If nothing else, this made me realize how much I'd like to see Andy Serkis in Macbeth.

It's Andy Serkis. He's already in the uncanny valley. lol

Remember 12 years ago when we saw Sony come out with the PS3 Alfred Molina head and we all wondered how graphics could get any better?

Those were good times.

100% photo realistic.
95-99% video realistic.
Our kids will point at their video games, and laugh at Tarkin.

This is the most impressive performance capture I've seen so far. There is still something weird I can't put my finger on. Maybe it's the eyes - fixed to single point barely moving at all.

Guys, his eyes are not "dead". Try acting that piece with those emotions and record yourself. If you get in that character properly, you'll have that look in your eyes. You need to learn to recognize mental state and emotions before commenting nonsense. Excellent work, designers!

techs come a long way that we can have Andy Serkis do a credible performance of Andy Serkis

WHY hasn't this man won an Oscar yet?

The uncanny valley (especially for real-time rendering) is certainly getting narrower, and narrower.
I mean... there's obvious issues here, in seaming, in some micro-movements, and parts of the face a little out of sync from others... but for a real-time rendering from Unreal Engine?... damn. That's great!

Still a bit rubbery in motion, but looking at some of the stills, you wouldn't know it wasn't a real person unless someone told you. Eyes are still a bit weird. Can't put my finger on why. Maybe the whites are too even or not blue enough. Or maybe the pupils not adjusting enough. Still, getting pretty close.

CGI facial animation has come a long way since Fred Parke's "Faces" (1974) and Ed Catmull & Fred Parke's "Halftone Animation" (1972).

Note: Fred Parke's "Faces" can be found on YouTube under the name of Early CGI Facial Animation (1974) . If you enjoy watching early computer animated short films, like I do, you should give it a view.

I have seen many actors recite this scene. Not one...not one holds a candle to Andy Sirkis' take on it. His interpretation and presentation of this speech, feels to me, the most appropriate.

Macbeth: the game, starring Andy Serkis. I would totally play that!

Maybe you can submit this to The Academy as a short film and get Andy the Oscar he deserves.
