This is what we eat every Lunar New Year #shorts #lunarnewyear #chinesenewyear #easyrecipe #recipe

✨ RECIPE ✨
1. Add 3 eggs, 3/4 cup oil, 2 cups coconut milk (can be substituted for milk, water, or a combination of them — just make sure that it’s 2 cups of liquid total) and mix well.
2. In a separate big mixing bowl, add 2 cups (16 oz or 1 bag) of glutinous rice flour, 1 cup brown sugar (you can use any sugar and adjust to your taste), and 1 tsp baking powder. *Glutinous rice flour can be subbed for mochiko but in my experience it’s not as good.
3. Add in the wet mixture from earlier and combine well.
4. Add in 1 can of red bean (I used mashed sweetened red bean) and mix that in evenly.
5. Butter, oil, or spray your pan and pour in your batter.
6. Bake at 350F for 1 hour, then test with a chopstick/toothpick. If it doesn’t come out clean, put it back in the oven for 5-10 minutes and test again.
7. Let cool before taking out and cutting up to serve. Enjoy! 😋

新年快樂 ! 🧧 Have you tried this red bean mochi cake (nian gao or nin gou) before? It was one of my favorite desserts growing up! It's also super easy to make, the written recipe is in the description box ❤

that’s a really interesting way to eat 年糕!i’m chinese and the 年糕 we get/make is normally eaten by cutting it up into thin slices, dipping in egg and pan-frying it until soft. i’ve also never seen it with red bean. going to try this out!

I think in English, we call this “rice cake”. There are actually two types. This is one of them and another one is thin white disks that we use for rice cake soup or stir fried rice cakes.
