One of the best things I have learned! It used to be a real hazard to import my photos

Thanks for the info Anthony. I've been using LR for just about 1.5 years now, but I didn't know that yet... Have a good one!

Gret Video....Now i know why all my photos were going to my "Pictures" folder on my computer and why i had so many of them in there. Hopefully this will eliminate me having to delete some of those photos in my pictures file.

I hate anything to do with LR import so use the Bridge import and then add the images to LR from the folder I chose in Bridge. That way I can also do a first quick edit in Breezebrowser before I import them. Breezebrowser is like Photo Mechanic (but less expensive) and makes preview images almost instantly. Perfect for removing the obvious clinkers up front.

This might come in useful so I created an auto import and it works just as you described in this video. However, it looks like Lr created two "Auto Imported Photos" folders, why is that?

Wherever your new photos are, ie card/folder on PC/ext drive, just right click on one of them and choose 'open with, ' select Lightroom, and it will import any you select. For photos previously imported you have of course to find the folder in 'library'

Great info as always but how can I import from apple photos into Lightroom classic

Can this method be used with images from an XQD card using a card reader and importing them to an external drive and from there into LR? The reason I ask is because I purchased a card reader but LR would not import them directly from the card reader. It will only import from the camera.

Good idea but doesn't seem to work very well with Network Attached Storage devices for the watched folder. Generally too many imports to use a folder on the MAC itself ... too little room. Ah well. Nice thought.

Files always go in different folders depending on the shoot.
yyyymmdd_ShootName
All of those custom folders are different and want them created during import.
I thought LR always imported in the background.

You have to spend time copying files from the camera/card to the folder for Lightroom to import from.

Seems overly complicated. Me I just do the import and get it over with.

thx but auto import is not for me...After an event, i come back with hundreds, if not thousands of images and i have to cull before i import into LR.

Interesting vid but it got repeatedly interrupted by a really annoying Joel Grimes ad so I clicked away.
