Former cricketer Imran Khan claims Pakistan election victory

He's been a star cricketer and a socialite. Now he's the new Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Imran Khan used his PTI party platform to campaign for an end to corruption and dynastic politics in the country but his opponents say he's had to rely on the military for support and there was ballot rigging in yesterday vote.

The PTI victory has not been conclusive though...it's likely they'll have to look for coalition partners to govern. Inigo Gilmore rounds up the day's developments.

Back in the late 70's i saw Imran bowling for Sussex against Gloucestershire at Bristol on a typical flat track.He cleaned bowled our opener Andy Stovold in his first over.Andy Brassington, our keeper, came in as nightwatchman because it was late and nearly time for stumps.Andy Brassington hardly saw his first ball and managed to edge the ball through the slips.The slip fielders barely moved because the ball flashed through so quickly.Andy was bowled next ball if i remember.It was one of the most thrilling sights and one of my fondest, abiding memories in cricket watching Imran Khan bowl.He was frighteningly quick.Good luck Imran in your new job.

You fools. Imran Khan won fairly with massive popular support. I have been watching his rallies for a year and the crowds he draws in is sensational, more than other parties. His policies against corruption and bringing justice are clear. He is not corrupt like the other dynastic parties.

He has a stubborn personality and is principled, in fact the army would've found it easier to have Bilawal Bhutto as a puppet, as hes young, inexperienced, has vague policies. Whereas Imran had struggled for 26 years to build his party.
