*Class-A Address Range*

Class-A address range refers to a range of IP addresses that fall within the first class of the original IP addressing system, which was defined by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA). In classful networking, the Class-A address range occupies the highest order bits of the IP address, specifically the first octet.

The Class-A address range spans from 0.0.0.0 to 127.255.255.255 in IPv4. This range provides a vast number of addresses, with the first octet ranging from 0 to 127. However, some addresses within this range are reserved for special purposes, such as loopback (127.0.0.0/8) and private networks (10.0.0.0/8).

In terms of IP address allocation, Class-A addresses were originally intended for large-scale organizations and networks due to the large number of addresses available. However, with the introduction of Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR), the concept of address classes has become less significant, and IP addresses are now allocated based on variable-length subnet masks.
