Sorry this video is so overly censored, YouTube kept limiting the video and they don't give much information on why or how to fix it. I just got rid of whatever could've been considered slightly controversial. Hope it doesn't affect the viewing experience too much. Used to host a doom metal show at my college radio station and we would play this on 4/20. We didn't wanna get in trouble (it was a catholic university so we always had the campus ministry keeping watch over us) so we referred to weed as "Lima beans"

I’ve tried listening to this song like 15 times. Only fully got through it once, but that one time was surprisingly enjoyable. Just smoked a ton of 🍃 and mixed in some edibles, and pretty much listened to it in a bed-ridden, THC induced, semi-conscious coma, and just kinda zoned out for an hour while listening to the song. Once it ended, it was like an alarm and I snapped out of it and sat up with a feeling of “huh, that was pretty good”. Overall, 10/10, would recommend

also fun fact, Dopesmoker was the initial name of this one hour monolith and it had a more of a space/astronaut (or marijanaut if you feel inclined) theme to it, they later changed towards more of a desert theme and called it Jerusalem, which is the version known today, but that final version never got released in full length under the name Jerusalem, later matt pike re-mixed it and turned it closer to its original state and it got re-released under the name Dopesmoker althrough still being the desert themed one, you can hear Al altering the lyrics back to the space themed one in some live shows where they play Improvised Morris/Cultivator (Regency Ballroom gig at 2016 for example, can find it on youtube)

I've listened to this song hundreds of times, forwards, backwards, slowed down, fast, I listened to it so many times I've memorized it. I used it to count my shift hours at the factory, or driving for long distances. It's a good unit of time, one dopesmoker lol

Dopesmoker carried me through a really tough summer vacation in 2021 when i had to travel and hike across country with nothing but a backpack of dirty clothes and some headphones. Lots of fun memories listening to this while waiting hours on bustops, trying to pick apart this monster of a song.

Basically the story of Dopesmoker and London Records is a familiar one to a lot of 90s bands singed to majors. Get signed to the label by an A&R person who champions you, that person leaves, leaving the rest of the label to scratch their heads and not know what to do.
