Building an Outdoor Grow Box from Scrap Wood

Four years ago we had no shower - inside the house or outdoors. Instead we made do with a luke warm bucket of water in a secluded spot under an olive tree. To remedy this we built a simple timber framed screen and installed a solar shower so we could refresh ourselves at the end of a long day of house renovation work.

But now we have a hot running indoor shower and have no need for the outdoor shower anymore – which is good because it's definitely past it's prime.

In this episode we tear down the old solar shower structure and repurpose all the materials into something completely different: an outdoor grow box for all of our seedlings that are growing on or waiting to be planted out in garden.

It was a major (and welcome) step from a primitive outdoor shower to your luxury spa bath! I'm sure that the beautiful circular deck will always be a functional part of your landscape.

Made me laugh when Kylie said "Good enough" while holding a spirit level.. She is such a perfectionist you KNOW Good enough means Its 100% perfect.

Its nice to see someone repurposing there old material, most people like to save their time and just demolish all useful stuff, neglecting the fact that they are wasting natural resources just for saving some time and work. But in ur case it’s really refreshing to see ecofreindly mindset. Where u use old wood instead of buying new.

Yes you can tell people to stop being so mean
It’s lovely what you did with the old writing dresser 😊😊😊

I so appreciate your commitment to reusing as much of your materials as you can. It's refreshing to see a YouTube channel that isn't just indiscriminately ripping things apart and tossing out old materials that could be salvaged. As always, love your channel and the great videos you create. Wally is pretty great, too. 😉

Your original shower structure held up quite well over the years. It shows how well you guys build things.

Wonderful idea, and using the old material for the project is very smart. Also I love your fluffy clouds in the background, they look amazing!☁😶‍🌫🌤

Oh this is such a great show of progress - being able to remove your shower because you have a proper one now, clearing up a lot of space on your deck to use for something else (like enjoying a nice cold beverage) and improving your seedling raising situation until you have time to build a proper greenhouse. Neat!
I hope the cats will enjoy their new dry feeding station. Wally is so adorable, I love that he gets to hang out with you and have some shelter from the elements.

Most importantly, you demonstrate how a an exceptionally intelligent couple work together with RESPECT (and laughs) even if you disagree. Love you guys and best of luck always🤩

So great! You can always turn the trays around every few days if the seedlings start leaning. ❤

Those "hardening off" shelves may be better if there's a covering on the top to stop drenching. The rain should still get to the plants but not over-water.
You could put screen on one side to diffuse the wind.

Great to see the use of SPAX screws rather than nails for the original structure - enabling you to take it completely apart re-use of all the timber . . . and the screws.
