The Johto Gym Leaders Suck, so I FIXED them

Pokemon Heartgold and Soulsilver, the best remakes and some of the best games in the series. But they do have their issues, for one the level curve sucked, and the issue we are going to tackle today is the Gym Leaders teams lacking Johto Pokemon. So I am going to rework every gym leader to make their teams make more sense, here is how it went.

Since Clefairy is not a normal type anymore it would probably be good to change it to a Jigglypuff.

Nice teams, though I'd replace Jasmine's Ampharos with Scizor and Clair's Dunsparse with Dragonair.

I genuinely respect your reasoning behind their inclusions, but I wanna make those simple changes to better live up the their leaders' typings.

And to be a little more faithful, even though he's the 7th Gym Leader, I'd keep Pryce's ace as a Piloswine.

I thought the same thing for Morty with Noctowl. Also if you give it to him in the Gen2 games, all of his Pokemon won't be weak to ground.
I would give Jasmine Lanturn instead of Amphy. I see Ampharos as a pet and Lanturn can be similar but also taking on Water and Fire types that threaten her team.
This is gonna sound weird but I would give Clair Politoed. It isn't dragon like but I give it to her so she has a Rain-based team since her team is more Aquatic dragons.

Everything else I love. I completley forgot about Aipom at all to give to Whitney😮

Very good video perhaps Claire could have a Yanmega in HG/SS as Yanmega is inspired by a dragonfly. Maybe give her an Ursaring as an intimidating looking Pokemon plus Teddiursa is by Blackthorn City

I love Jotho region, but something that seems strange to me is that their Gym Leaders don't use Pokémon from that region. The changes you made are greatly appreciated, they are all perfect. In Morty's case, instead of Noctowl I would give him a Murkrow, a Dark Pokémon like Umbreon.

What if one of Falkner's team depended on night & day, a Natu during the day or a Murkrow at night?

The elemenatal punches & brick break on Ampharos would give a ton of coverage

Instead of return you should give Clair's dunsparce max power frustration since she apparently doesn't know that she's supposed to be nice to her pokemon and I can imagine her treating it poorly compared to her stronger dragon types since she values strong pokemon but doesn't seem to care for weaker ones

Also, Dudunsparce is the perfect evolution for Dunsparce. Dunsparce's whole thing is that it is meant to be disappointing in every way due to it being based on the Tsuchinoko, the world's most disappointing cryptid.

I think maybe some type changes are necessary Ghost still wrecks half of chuck's team close.
I think Noctowl could be Ghost/Flying in this game or have some alternate version using the scrapped design as an evolution during night time. Ledian could have some elemental punches and technician or do what I did and add Shuckle to his team. I always taught Marowak should be part Ghost because of it's pokedex entry and the fact you catch it lavender town however Misdreavus or Haunter can still work Umbreon makes best sense on Karen's team. Piloswine is weak but it's gen 2 so it makes sense as his ace.

I don't understand why you wouldn't allow a Dragonair on her team it's the only one of it's line nobody is using it. Also Iris is champion so it's to be expected she has some type diversity on her team. Anway if you're going to add different pokemon teams why not just make coverage pokemon or give them an additional type. Jasmine could have a Corsola to handle her weakness to Fire and Ground Pokemon instead of Ampharos. Clair could have Lapars with Thunderbolt handling her weakness to Ice Pokemon or an Archaine/Ampharos given that she uses that in Pokemon Stadium. Turn Dunsparce into part Dragon Kingler into part Steel.

I do like how you are trying to stay true to canon no level changes this feels like something game freak might put it's not too hard or easy.

For me
I would replace the Umbreon you put on Morty's team with Haunter or Marowak(Part Ghost) replace Noctowl normal typing with Ghost.
Cianwood City would be blocked until you beat the team rocket hideout mission and beat the Mahogany wood gym(Ice is generally a weak type and Piloswine is weak to all the starters it makes sense you should challenge it earlier)
Sneasel Jynx Quagsire(It counters Ice Weakness to Fire Rock and resits Steel) Sneasel could have Aerial Ace to deal with Fighting types and Jynx already deals with them Pilowinse.

Primeape(It makes sense for him since it shows off it's power a lot and is quite hotheaded I would give it Shadow Claw instead of Rock Slide to go with it's focus energy Slash Karate chop maybe holding a razor claw) Golem(Geodude is most often used on many blackbelts teams to counter flying types why can't a Gym Leader do the same plus Golem isn't really used much and it has too many weakness this is it's one time to be somewhat viable) Poliwrath Heracross(Bruno can have the Tyrogue evolution trio I would give him Bug Bite so he can still hurt Physic Rock Slide Brick Break and Bulk Up which will be the new TM for this Gym)
