Viltrox FE 35mm Review - The Cheapest Sony FE Lens?

Wish I had some better photos with it but it's been so bloody rainy here in England recently! All tested on my Sony α7!

I be keeping it for now I think - Cool little lens for the price.

I just got this lens on eBay for $50 and I’m super happy with it. It’s really fun to shoot with. The seller thought it was an APSC lens but thanks to this video, I knew it was full frame!

Thanks for the review. Regarding your comment on the aesthetics, personally I think this lens is great looking, WAY better looking than the Sony 35/2.8, which to me is very ugly. The Viltrox reminds me of my old Olympus Zuiko 12/2, which is a beautiful lens. I'd probably buy this lens as a cheap walkaround, but the weight does put me off.
(In general I find the Sony FE lenses, especially the Batis range, to be quite unsightly, which is part of the reason I mainly shoot the beautiful M-mount lenses on my A7.)

Looks eerily similar to a couple of weird Chinese 35mm 1.8 APS-C lenses I have, higher price point though. I found that the focus rings would start life smooth, then progressively get worse as the lenses aged. On stripping them down, the internal build is almost entirely plastic, and made to fairly sloppy tolerances - I re-filled everything with some good quality bike grease (White Lightning) and it was almost like the grease was the only thing stopping things from rattling!

Anyone looking for an autofocusing 35mm lens, there’s the samyang 35mm f/2.8 which is about £220 new and £170 used and it’s the same Sharpness etc. As the Ziess 35mm.Great Video Aswell mate!
