Linkage Adjustment - How to Link & Sync a Yamaha Outboard 40hp 2 stroke

preview_player
Показать описание
This video covers how to adjust the linkage on my Yamaha TLRT outboard. This is also commonly referred to as a link and sync. I'll cover the timing and throttle linkage, the CDI (Capacitive Discharge Ignition) ignition timing adjustments, the throttle cable adjustments as well as the basic carburetor adjustments.

This outboard motor is a 2 stroke and us currently mounted on the 1966 Boston Whaler 13 that I recently finished restoring. I'll be doing a few videos on this engine in the near future.

A Quick disclaimer, I am not an outboard technician. I do however do my homework and consult with experts when necessary before doing much of the work I do on outboards. Last of all, I get a service manual on the outboards I work on and a thoroughly familiarize myself on the area I am going to work on.

Bro, this video has saved my sanity. Went through all the processes on my 50 (same as 40) and just had to adjust mix screws on the lower carbs to eliminate lean sneeze. Now she purrs like a kitten.... Thank you all the way from Australia

You just saved me from buying a new $600 cdi unit that a mechanic told me I would need! Turns out all I needed was an adjustment. Everything was severely out of sync! Thank you so much!!!

Really good. I have the manuals and I have had the engine for few years. Just had some misfire or backfire issues and dying on idle. Watch your video then cleaned the carbs which I’ve done before and then set up the carburettor using your Link sync YouTube video. Your videos answered all the outstanding questions I had even though I’ve got the Yamaha workshop manual absolutely brilliant really appreciated it. Clear and detailed instructions I really can’t thank you enough. For now the engine is back to running perfectly

5:30 it was at this point that I stopped the video and gave this a shot on my 90 and let me tell you sir you made my day actually my weekend. I haven't even finished the video yet but I'm about to.

It took me a little messing around to get it smoothed out but when I first started it it was backfiring. I see now some of these connectors are cracking so I need to get new ones. But thanks to you I know what I did to make this happen and how to correct the problem.

I appreciate you. Thank you for sharing your skills knowledge and experience

Hello, very good videos and very well explained, thank you.
I have a question.
On a 50Cv 2T autolube engine, what would be the measurements of the CDI and air/mixture screws, etc. of the carburetors? I would be very grateful for any advice. A greeting from Spain.

Hey great video helped out allot, I’ve got a 50pro Yamaha having a hard time finding specs on this thing. Would my idle fuel control be the same as the 40 at 1 1/2 turns?
