Throughout my life, I’ve traveled all over the world. When I was in my mid 20s, I went to the Philippines and went to Baguio city, the rice terraces, Manila, BF homes, Cebu with a Filipino friend of mine. I have never met throughout all my travels people as friendly and as embracing with genuine smiles as the Filipino people.

American military men brought country music and the country lifestyle to Baguio. Baguio is a tropical Nashville. Both are country music capitals in their respective nations.
Yet, Baguio is growing!

I was born and raised in Baguio. When Camp John Hay was an American R&R base our family had a pass to enter and that's where I learned about burgers, fries, milk shake, and 5 cents scotch whiskey. When I was a teen in the middle 1950s Baguio then was in its splendor and considered one of the best places in southeast Asia. I went to Manila for college then to the States in 1966. Sad to say Baguio today is not the same as I know. There is overcrowding and overbuilding. A beautiful place marred by progress without planning.

Michael - you just went to the city center. Did not go to the spots which are near your place like the Botanical Garden, Wright Park, Mansion, Mines View Park, Good Shepherd, Lourdes Grotto and Mirador Heritage Park.

Baguio residents take a walk uphill, downhill and all. It’s the best exercise. The weather is great!

I live in La Union and go up the mountain at least once a month, especially to cool off when the beaches are too hot. I was getting ready to fly back to California and needed something warmer. I found a hoodie that said Baguio, sweaters, shirts, and other touristy stuff at Mines View. 2XL and 3XL. Yes, Baguio is a tourist destination but it is also a university town because of the several renowned universities located there.

For Baguio jackets, you have to go to 2nd Floor Hangar Market. you just passed by it. It was on the 2nd floor of the vegetable market. They sell clothes upstairs

Baguio is on my bucketlist for a visit. I would have to plan to visit other places as well as it is too far to go just to visit there.

The whole stretch of Session( where you saw the chalk arts) is close every Sunday for locals, tourists and artists to enjoy. Opposite of the Malcolm square is where you can find the massive collection of the souvenirs you where looking for. 😊
And yes you cannot trust Baguio weather. 1 minute its hot then another minute its cold. Hope you can explore the outskirts of the city next time.

Your cinematography is almost always superior to most other vloggers. Well done.
