I've had SSD since my childhood (left side), and only understood what was going on at the age of 8. Before that, I used to think everybody could only hear that way and I would get confused when people would tell me they can locate people and sounds (still believe they have superpowers).
Such a great tatoo Rosie, love it !

I'm 16yo while I'm writing this comment. I wish me and all people who have an SSD a whole life of joyfulness ❤️

I have single sided deafness, and I wish I could hear from the other ear. Everyone says that stereo is so cool, well, I have no idea what that might be like.

I'm a SSD from my left ear, I don't know but I get very emotional while I think about my deafness and I don't able to overcome it. It makes me so heartbreaken. But it's good toh hear other people thought and see how they handle their daily life and make me go. Maybe one day I'll able to start live happily with my disability.

I had to give music up because of my SSD, and I have a lot of social anxiety when I have to go in crowded places, especially if I have to meet new people. Throughout all my life there were always situations where people thought I was weird or stupid, but the truth is that I couldn't hear them and I was too afraid to tell. Sometimes I think how different my life would be if I could hear normally.

I was born with SSD in my right ear, it wasn't picked up until around 5/6 years old when we would have a nurse come to our school and do a hearing test. A little wooden hammer was given to use when you were able to hear the pitched sounds, I just never used it on my right ear and I was shouted at for presumably playing up. Only recent in the last 5/6 years I get tinnitus in my good ear, must be great to hear in Stereo.

I went deaf on the left side as I child so I experienced normal hearing before losing hearing in my left ear. I can tell you that this is a significant disability and, to make it worse, it is an invisible disability. CROS hearing aids help a lot in everyday situations, but are hopeless in loud environments.

Nice video thank you . Phonak is my 1st hearing aid . Not like a real ear but suppresses the tinnitus and dull feeling on my deaf side . Clever devices . NHS follow up is somewhat lacking .

I have SSD also, a disease named cholosteatoma came up when I was 6 years old. I turned to be an alcoholic also, but well.. that is another story. Good luck btw and thanks for sharing your story Rosie!

Same problems with me, whats worse is that I play the guitar and have to sit to the left of my brother so that I can hear his playing. In fact I play without actually hearing much of the music? and review it by playing back recordings, this gives me a guide as to volume settings when playing in the future. It may sound odd? but I play by rythm and timing. I have a hearing aid but it overloads with the frequencies of the music? My right ear runs at 75 percent, my left ear approx 15 percent? socially it causes many problems? difficult to join in conversations, miss a lot which is said, may end up laughing at the wrong time. I find it easier not to bother in the first place some times? I wear headphones at home, often missing people at the door, which can be awkward.

I've had my first hearing problem when I was 9 yo. At that time, I always heard a ringing on my right ear and I couldn't hear on this side. But after I went to see the nose and throat Doctor, this ear came back to normal only for a few days. Since that I've had SSD. Now I'm 22 yo and I hardly can't tell people about my condition, and my parents doesn't really want to hear (care) about this. Is there something that can make me feel easy to tell people about my condition? Cuz I'm always struggling to find from where the voice sounds or in a crowded place. I want to be honest with myself and everyone...

I have a hole in my right ear and I'm so hoh in my right ear so I'm basically deaf. So I just move my head to my left ear constantly to keep in with people best i can but I let people know my right ear is deaf and people seem polite but it's annoying for me. I'm grateful to have the hearing I do. Stay strong and your not alone
