Doesn't Nik say though that you are actually not jumping. But that the lifting of the ground is a result everything that happens before...all the energy that is stored and thus released from the kenetic chain (loading back foot, hip and torso rotation, acceleration of the shoulder arm etc?

Imagine coaching someone, telling him that it's good, and he's looking down at the line that he's foot faulting on. Granted, he has a lot more to work on than avoiding a foot fault.

This 'jumping over a box' teaching is nonsense!

No pro player deliberately jumps like this - even Federer, one of the best servers on the tour launches upwards with his body knowing that a deep return from the opponent does not warrant jumping forwards since his intention is NOT to serve & volley.
