POTA FROM ALASKA OFF-GRID CABIN: Parks On The Air-Ham Radio

Join me on an unforgettable journey as I navigate my Tracker 1754 across the pristine waters of Nancy Lake to a secluded off-grid cabin in the heart of Alaska. Once there, I set up my ham radio gear for a Parks on the Air (POTA) activation, surrounded by the serenity of the Alaskan wilderness.

After a day of making contacts and exploring the beauty of Nancy Lake, I settle in for a peaceful night at the cabin, completely disconnected from the modern world. This adventure is a perfect blend of boating, off-grid living, and ham radio in one of Alaska’s most picturesque locations.

Highlights:
• Boating across Nancy Lake in the Tracker 1754
• Exploring and staying in an off-grid cabin
• Setting up and completing a POTA activation
• Immersing in the peaceful Alaskan wilderness

If you love ham radio, off-grid adventures, and the natural beauty of Alaska, don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more content like this!

Watching an older video. It would be interesting to see a POTA activation from a boat in the middle of the lake. Or the ocean if it is feasible.

Your first video I have seen, but will check out others. Had a POTA contact with you 8/22/21 at Willow Creek. I am doing some activations starting this Spring. Lots of fun. Jim KM7H

I would glue a little magnet to that tripod so you can put the nut on it to reduce chances of losing it if it gets dropped. Good video!

All the aspects you place in your video is good stuff. A little here, a little there. Still enjoy the time you take with the drone too ! I have a nephew that has built out a cabin resort in Anchor Point. Wanting to get him into radio as well, or at least let me use us it for a radio !! 73 !!

So did you take a break from pota for the summer or video editing 😂 I started a YouTube channel and I quit it pretty fast because of the nightmare that editing was for me. Thanks for another great video 73

The first time I have seen a Buddie pole setup. I will have to look and see what kind of radiation pattern that has. A lot different than you normal end fed ground vertical. The feed point rasped that high must make it have different characteristics which would mean the counter poise has a greater affect on the tune of the antenna. Still love the view of Alaska. Reminds me of my times there when I was a kid. Thanks for the video! 73

Pretty cool stuff! I'm a Tech in Phoenix, but bring my Yaesu VX-2R with a 102" whip to scan and listen to other bands while camping. Maybe I'll hear you one of these days. Cheers! Pete in Arizona - KI7LIL & WRXY843
