I've made seitan from scratch recently! People in Asian countries have been making this as a meat replacement for hundreds of years if not a couple thousand! It was pretty easy to make but just a heads up if you're new to making it yourself like I was, while you're washing the starch off you're going to be very skeptical... just KEEP GOING it will come together!

Also, you can get the proteins with the starches already removed. Much easier to make that way.

I thought seitan needed much more ingredients but I’m glad this recipe is simpler than I imagined

The only thing I don’t like about seitan is that it’s very chewy. But it can have a very nice flavor.

Instead of kneading whole wheat flour you should use all purpose flour/maida.. because I think you are going for a texture like it.. and this way you could save the wastage of flour by washing it at least 10 times😮

Whenever i do handwashed seitan it's always way too soft. It's not my fave
Definitely try a few recipes if you try this one and you don't like it. There's so many!

If your gluten free don't make this, it's essentially straight gluten globs.
