Elections were held in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh on May 13. The state has been electing 175 legislators and 25 members of parliament simultaneously since 1999. Once the dominant state down south, Andhra Pradesh was split in 2014 to create Telangana. That split continues to reverberate through the state's political economy till date.
