Alaska earthquake caught on home surveillance video

Home surveillance video captured the terrifying moment a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck in Alaska on Friday morning.

Homeowner Eric Nelius shared the footage from a camera at his home in Palmer, Alaska, about 40 miles northeast of Anchorage. The footage showed about 20 seconds of intense shaking; Nelius' wife can be seen grabbing the couple's son and running toward the front door until the shaking subsides.

For anyone concerned about the dog, it happens. For anyone who has experienced a powerful earthquake, the fear, adrenaline is insane because the only thing that is going through your head is when the building will come crashing down on you. What makes the fear worse is that you don't know WHEN it will fall. It can fall anytime. The only thing you'd likely be thinking about is how fast you can get out. It's probably just a natural response to this natural disaster.

From my experience, when I felt a powerful earthquake, I forgot all about my pet lizard and my dogs. They were not even in my consideration. The panic was insane, that's all that I have to say. Not justifying it too much, I just understand how they could have felt including many other people who experienced earthquakes.

I do beg though, that people try their best to control themselves when earthquakes happen. Try to think fast and if you have animals in cages indoors, please release them and take them with you
