I also want to lean towards my longer books this year, or actively pick one up each regularly! I have found they just fill my cup a bit more even if by the end they are my favourite story.

Same regarding Poor Things- added it to my TBR bc I want to read it prior to watching film . Read Pew and Birnam Wood this past year

I feel very motivated after seeing your list. And I am also looking forward to seeing your future review videos.
My goal this year is to read more authors from Africa. I already bought some books and I am planning to start reading as soon as I am done with my exams.

I would be interested in a buddy read for The Sellout. It is on my shelf for far too long too.

Fabulous list of books! The Road used to be my favorite book, so I can really recommend it :)

Rene, such a great list! I adore Bonjour Tristesse. A much more nuanced story than first appears.

Iris Murdoch is a focus author of mine this yr. Yay! I read her decades ago and want to see how her writing lands with me now. I recall it being so impressive.

oooh the ferrante comparison has me even more excited for lies and sorcery!! i was sold by all the natalia ginzburg talk in the intro. i didn’t realize durga chew bose is adapting bonjour tristesse!! i’ve seen her ig posts of some movie stuff but wasn’t 100% sure on what it was until now - exciting!!!

Fab list! I highly recommend the audiobook for The Sellout - I’m very fussy with audiobooks but this one is stellar. Intrigued by Elsa Morante but haven’t got to Neapolitan Quartet yet. When are you planning on reading Birnam Wood, it’s on my TBR too😊

A very good list! Birnam Wood is on my list as well. I couldn't believe how many people listed it as a favorite for last year!

Pew is great; poor things is fantastic and the road gutted me. Amazing list 👏🏼

I'm in the US and the Poor Things book with the movie tie-in cover wasn't available and so I found it on EBay. I did that with Our Wives Under the Sea as well to get the better cover (UK edition), in my opinion.🙂

The Road remains one of my favorite dystopians of all time .

I cannot WAIT for Durga’s directorial debut with Bonjour Tristesse. If you can’t wait, there’s also a 1958 version starring a very young and beautiful Jean Seberg that I think perfectly embodies Cécile.
