Canary Islands: protesters have ‘had enough’ of tourists

But the developers who are chasing the inhabitants out to make

Even ordinary food and rent have gone up.

Tourism isn't the problem in itsef but the greed it generates is!

Good for them. Government and councils have to look after the indigenous residents. They have large tourist industry's. But locals have to be looked after.

I am German and I live in Germany. I originally wanted to go on holiday to the Canary Islands to escape the cold and rainy weather in Germany. I won't be doing that now, I'm going to choose a different destination. The Canary Islands are no longer on my travel list. I will only go on holiday where I am welcomed as a tourist and not seen as a nuisance. 😡

We need to do this in Cornwall! I am SO sick of English tourists telling me that we couldnt survive without tourism (only about 5% of our gdp). We didnt have tourism for thousands of years, and flourished. Now what? Nobody can rent anything and our beautiful land is being scarred with Barrat homes 😢 GO CANARIES!! If they saw what the cost of living is in my city ... A single room goes for $1200.
Most of the apartments and houses are listed as "student only". There are thousands of homeless, more every day. Half the cities rentals are owned by 5 people. Whom are the worst landlords you can imagine. Falling apart rentals; bug and rat infested buildings, taps that don't work, doors snd windoes thst dont lock, showers thst dont shower, no hot water.. the list goes on. The city council don't fine them do thry get away with renting out sub-standard rentals. My city population is only around 120k, and its absolutely despicable.

I'm English, 67 and my wife is 64.
We are always kind and courteous to people and spend money to help their economy.
We are off to CROATIA this summer.
We won't go to Spain or the Canary Islands again.
I'm sorry for the people there who earn a living from tourists.
