For it to work in a developing country, it has to make financial sense for people to buy the straws. US is starting to move to biodegradable straws but it's not everywhere due to cost. Costs need to be competitive with plastic for a wider adoption but it's great that they are doing their part!

I hope that a clean-up was able to be organized for the beach. It's good to prevent the problem ofc but it's also good to try and clean up what you can & recycle/reuse it somehow
