you forgot to mention how FAST current greninja is and he was only in base form and not trying on lucario, no other non legendary has been shown that level of speed before in the anime, he just looks like blurred lines and legit vanished and stayed invisible for a few seconds in a couple scenes when fighting lucario and he hit all 8 of lucario's double team that were in the air with his hand while looking like a blurred line, lucario was frozen still too in the air and not moving and in many other scenes, that just shows how fast current greninja is, he makes steven's mega metagross from the masters 8 look like a slug in comparison, and mega metagross was able to speed blitz and no diff base pikachu until the zmove which he still dodged until he tried to attack and stood still

if you think about it regardless of what you believe, if Alain was nerfed or not, greninja has way more experience and was stronger than ash’s mega lucario in base or on par (I forgot the scaling) and mega lucario was able to go toe to toe against cyinthias d max togekiss and then Garchomp who he managed to beat

If you want to get technical tho....in Journeys, they sorta retcon Greninja vs Alain Charizard. Instead of it being Ash Greninja, it was just base Greninja....so Mega Charizard X is comparable to just base Greninja, add the Ash-greninja form, there XD.

in my head canon zygarde was training greninja by defeating the roots left of by lysandre which keep in mind gave diantha and steven some trouble.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with you....Ash vs Cynthia proved that Ash is much stronger than Alain. Leon casual'd Alain, he didnt even use all his pokemon. Meanwhile, Ash pushed back Cynthia, and while Cynthia isnt as strong as Leon (imo they are pretty close tho #2 and #1), this is enough to conclude Journeys Ash can beat Alain.

To add to your point of Lucario being vastly weaker than Greninja, in the episode where Chespin gets lost in the Kalos League, Sycamore explicitly says that thoughts, feelings and experiences are shared between pokemon and trainer in the bond phenomenon. If we take the word experience literally, he has the same level of experience as Ash, meaning all of Ash's past battles and training are all part of Greninja's experiences. After XY, Greninja spent time battling alongside 2 legendary pokemon. It's only natural that to keep up with their strength he'd get stronger himself.
Also if we really use ranks as an argument, Diantha is ranked higher than Alain, and Diantha's Mega Gardevoir ain't beating Ash Greninja FOR A FACT. And Mega Gardevoir did do pretty well against Leon's plot arm- I mean GMAX Charizard. So Alain's chances are.... not looking too great.
Also, Greninja is WAY faster now. It could probably keep up with Steven's Mega Metagross (also I'm surprised at how fast all the Metagrosses in the Masters 8 are. Remember Alain's?) which was running ACTUAL loops around Pikachu and only lost thanks to not dodging Pikachu's Z Move all the way through. And that same Pikachu beat Leon's Charizard AND his Cinderace. And Ash's experience all transfer to Greninja when they activate Battle Bond. So Greninja is at least on par with Pikachu, if not a bit stronger thanks to the potential of Bond Phenomenon.
And Alain... honestly I have no idea how he beat Ash the first time. "He fought legendaries" and got demolished by all of them except Zygarde, who was just about to demolish him before it got captured. Even if the Mega Ring absorbed their power or something, pre-prime Greninja could hold it's own against that same Charizard the second time they fought. Sure he probably would've lost, but considering he had absorbed the power of Mega Rayquaza at least, potentially even the Primals if their power counts as Mega Evolution Energy, that's still impressive. But Ash-Greninja in his prime was so much stronger than that version of Greninja, it baffles me he ever lost, especially when Alain barely absorbed anymore Mega Energy (the only ones I can think of, at least after the second fight would be, Korrina, Trevor, that Garchomp guy and potentially Wulfric), still couldn't beat every E4 member and definitely not Diantha (since even by the time of the Masters 8 he was outranked by her), not to mention how he barely did anything to Steven's Mega Metagross.
Either way, Alain gets no diffed EASILY by Ash-Greninja now. It's not even a question. Ash's E4 level lucario (since he only fought up to Bea, and Galar's Gym leaders are seen as strong as E4 members) got defeated without a SINGLE ATTACKING move. That is a level of power that's basically unheard of, with the exception of legendary pokemon.

I disagree with that Explanation. The only reason why Alain was weaker is because the Writers decided to heavily Nerf him against Leon just to make it so that Leon is the Strongest Trainer when in reality ..literally 99% of Pokemon Champion would put Leon in the dirt if the Writers didn’t decide to rush to pokemon master’s 8 league tournament.

Even if alan wasnt rusty, without the amped mega ring and with probably less experience with his Charizard bond wise, it would be safe to say greninja wins. Although it would be a tough fight we cant ignore the type disadvantage for charizard on top of the high chance of greninja just dodging a blast burn.

judging off 118 greninja is cracked it was literally teleporting when it battled it was so fast, on top of it beating down lucario with what is most likely not even actual attacks

charizard realistically might not even be able to land a hit considering greninja EVEN IN XYZ was outpacing it quite well.

that said we all know lucario was crashing out in the fight against greninja so its feats vs lucario might not be set in stone

but the speed? the speed absolutely is



as for charizard one could assume all the mega energy it absorbed made it significantly stronger with each match it fought, and once alain discarded that special mega stone charizard’s real strength was revealed.
