I know this sounds dumb, but I swear I didn't realize how much hand placement was affecting my braids. I wanted the more "straight back" look, but couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong!! Thank 🩷🩷🩷

I’ve literally always never been able to dutch braid and have mental breakdowns LOL. But anyways I’ve tried so many videos and none of them have worked except for this! It took so many videos for it to finally click! Anyone who is looking at comments let me give you some tips because my aunt is literally a pro and this is what she gave me.

1. Start with SMALL PEICES. I’m talking small or else the braid will start far back.

2. If you want it to go straight back do as demonstrated in the video (2nd option) because I didn’t want except the fact that that was the only why it was gonna go straight back cause it looked hard BUT IT REALLY ISNT IM TELLING.

3. I know you probably don’t want to hear this but

Omg yes! The arm breaks are essential. I usually do one side first and then tie the other side up, go do something else for a few minutes then come back to it to let my arms recover. Another tip is to do you less dominant side first so for me J do the left side first because the right side is naturally easier so I save that side for when my arms are more tired

Seriously, for years I’ve been trying to figure this out and have NEVER found a tutorial that helped! You explained this perfectly!!! I think what works for me is braiding it from the side instead of trying to braid it from the top! Thank you!

I've tried to learn how to do this for many, many years now. (I'm about to turn 23). I've never been able to until I came over your video. Thank you so much for teaching me how to braid my favourite braids!

I like how she combines the added piece with the piece she’s adding it to BEFORE she crosses it under. Not everyone does that. Hopefully this helps me get it.
I love how she keeps repeating. I NEEEED that. So thank youuu! Anyone who doesn’t like it can just fast forward.

Hi! I’m late but oh well. I watched so many tutorials on how to French or Dutch and they all made me want to rip my hair out and cry. But I came across yours and now I can Dutch braid! I still have to come back to start it off but you really helped me so thank you so much! I can’t wait to rock this hair style at the beach and this summer. Again tysm! You really helped me! 😊

Your hair is beautiful! I have long thick hair and ALWAYS have such a hard time doing the Dutch braid on myself! Thanks for showing us these two variations. Both look great on you, although, I think I like the ones that you did second - straight back…even though I’m sure arms will BURN doing them!

I NEVER KNEW how to do the double dutch boxer braids that go to the BACK but have always wanted to!!!

I regularly do the ones that go to "the side" but they just don't do it for me. I will ONE HUNDRED PERCENT be trying this out!

Thank you SO MUCH Lainey! I subscribed yesterday evening, a few videos ago lol.

Request if you haven't done so already, and I'll do my best to explain: sectioning the hair into THREE sections to make three boxer braids that go to the back- one in the middle and two at the sides! 😍 I'd like to try this both as an option for a new look, and to see what kind of heartless waves/curls it would make. But I don't have a clue how to section it out, and previously didn't know how to get the braids going to the back. I suppose even demonstrating the same three sections with the option of the braids going to the side would work too 😊

I love the look of the ones that go straight back, but I have yet to actually be able to master those when doing my own hair. I can do the ones that run down the side because I use my mouth to old my hair so I don't have to always be holding three sections lol!

You're a blessing! I have always wanted to braid my own hair because nobody around me knew how to. This tutorial helped me so much and now doing my hair for sports/work won't be as hard! Thank you so much!!

Thank you! It is stupid how long it took me to figure this out. Or even to find a video with an actual explanation!
