Thanks, you show how to make the pattern very well. Personally, I wouldn't drop any of the strands, because then it becomes loose. Maybe that was the look you were going for. However, I'd prefer to keep it tight which means holding onto all three braids and maintaining the tension as you braid each "stitch" as it is called. Just personal preference, not a criticism.

I think you need the triangle part at the start when u start because it makes your braid tighter
