To lighten your hashmarks you will need to soften your buffs and use less abrasive compounds.

I colored fuel tanks and did green rouge and green buff and then white wheel with white rouge and it has hash marks

Guess I'm doing something right cause after a brown and orange cut my wheels are Crystal clear. I've got rained out before and only had the cut done on a rim and it looked good. Only time I ever see hashmarks is when I cut my tanks.

Does it make sense that after sanding, and using a brown bar with the orange pad, I could tell I didn’t cut enough mostly because I had to use a lot more of the green bar rouge than I did with the brown? Or does a guy usually need a little more from the finish bar/buff
