Do you feel like your bike isn't the right size for you? A bike fit might answer your problems! The way a bike fits you is often more important than the bike itself, some mountain bikers understand the importance of a bike fit and skeptics think it's just another marketing ploy by the bike industry. Rich Payne has been doing a lot of long-distance cross-country riding over the past few years and wanted to find out more about key MTB bike fit adjustments to ensure his riding position is as comfortable and efficient as possible.

The Luke guy from SQL Lab bears a striking resemblance to F1 driver Sebastian Vettel😜

I've had lifestyle changing problems from using the wrong saddle. This video is such an eye opener, Thanks Rich!

For anyone who gets sore palms on long rides: This plagued me for years and about 18 months ago I tried the Ergon grips with the "wings" favoured by round the world type cyclists.
GP1 is the model I have (It looked like SQ had something similar) but there's many different configurations/sizes.

Its a complete winner and I don't have the pain anymore, quick easy and fairly cheap fix, that's made my ridding so much more enjoyable. 🙂

Also bars with more back sweep like they said in the video was another winner for me.

Hope this helps somebody out. 👍

This is something I’ve struggled with for years being a taller rider. Only recently I have been able to an XXL frame and feel far more comfortable now. I may think about trying SQ labs out for a full fitting especially for the ebike

Brilliant ! Been trying to understand saddle comfort and setup for a long time. If my ass is not comfortable, I don't feel the discomfort is worth the ride. Especially when there's lots of climbing. Great video !

Wow what a fascinating video. I can't think of a YouTube video where I gained more valuable insight. I had no idea how much more information there was to account for when setting up my bike. Thank you sincerely

It'd be great to see a video how difference in geo makes a difference to comfort and ride feel, e.g. stack height or reach

I have been testing the SQLab 611 ERGOWAVE for the past month and also the CHROMAG Trailmaster LTD. Both feel great, but you definitely need to get the tilt dialed, as even the slightest over or under-tilt makes a big difference. Also, I am a huge believer in backswept bars. Been running 20 degree back-sweep, 780mm bars for quite a few years and they are just right for me.

The biggest mistake we see in our shop (where we do bike fits), is that people buy a bike, then book a bike fit. GET YOUR BIKE FIT BEFORE YOUR BIKE 😊

There is only so much you can do to help people when they have the wrong bike, and it can be expensive to change lots of parts. We use a lot of Ergon saddles and grips 👍

I had too wide of a saddle on my bike, it kept pushing me forward. It made me have to push myself back every couple of km's. Got measured and found a proper width saddle and my degree of comfort rose significantly.

Thanks for the share, this is a fully commercial bikefit with many goot points we are making artisanal fit sessions based on the motricity of the rider swiss sport school and it is far modern and revolutionary. Materials fit are not based only on classic measurements but on your physio motricity, energetic zone preference .

Was it a bikefit video? More like an ad, also the so called bike fitter used KOPS method, huge red flag.

oh its all massively important, myself i feel much more comfortable when those bones are seated better, & with the correct handlebar & grips you can lock yourself in between the saddle & bars, if your serious about cycling then this video is a must.
