Okay so I’ll say first that there’s NOTHING wrong with imitating great photography. BUT it is worth while to have your own take on things.
My photography really started to evolve once I found my own perspective for the locations that I was visiting. Challenging myself to look beyond the photos that I saw on Instagram and treat locations as completely my own really helped level up the art that I was creating.
Some general tips that I can offer.
- Use different compositional elements for a space rather than the first one that comes to your head
- Search for different perspectives that change the angle of the location
- Find the detail shots that can really help communicate a location more than just a main hero photo.
