Camping at Lake Opeongo, Algonquin Park, Ontario

We love spending the summer in Canada!

Every year we go camping at Algonquin park- about 3 hours drive from Toronto.

On this video, we reserved backcountry at Algonquin Interior (canoeing), and we stayed at Lake Opeongo (Access point #11).

You may have to canoe far if you arrive late morning or after. We like to canoe deeper so it is not a problem for us. The water could be pretty rough if the weather is windy or rainy. So make sure to have a life jacket in your canoe. The key is to stay calm and cover all your belongings with a garbage bag so it will stay dry.

Don't hesitate to give us a shout if you have any questions about camping at Algonquin :)

This video was shot with SONY A5000 camera, GoPro Hero 5 Black, and a DJI Spark drone.

Wow that looks so BEAUTIFUL! I love that you saved that turtle....really warms my heart - I love animals so much. I need to get a canoe like it would open up opportunities for better campsites. THAT LIFE JACKET HACK IS BRILLIANT!!!!

Nice drone flying at the start, guys! I would've been absolutely terrifying flying it between those trees. Aww that turtle... super nice of everyone to help a struggling turtle out.

I've stayed on that island. It was a mess. Rubbish everywhere. Totally gross! A feces covered purple blanket. Half empty litre pepsi bottle. Broken fishing rod. Half a case of water bottles spilled on the beach and a firepit filled with half melted cans, broken eyeglasses, jiffy pop handles and half burnt baby diapers. Piles of used toilet paper here and there, just outside the clearing. I filled several bags with trash and recyclables. So much twigs and wood chips in every corner of the site it looked like someone had blown up a tree. Next trip to Algonquin I brought a rake head. Never seen so many Daddy Long leg spiders in my life. They covered the mesh of my tent, dozens at a time! It felt like a micro version of an alien invasion! The geese visited me early one morning as well. Only place they ever have. They seem to like the clover. Found a nice new neon Mepps spinner laying on the ground, luckily, before it found me. After cleaning the place up and rebuilding the pile of rocks into something one could actually cook on without gagging, I left behind a pretty nice campsite.

I believe flying drones in a provincial park is prohibited.

2:43 Nice campsite with such a view, BBQ place + campfire and canoeing experience. We used to have the same swinging rope nearby Orang Asli village before but it was washed away by massive flood in December 2014. Didn't captures it on video but still have some still images of it.
