I definitely prefer the new design but the old one fits into the theme that you're building the saber from scrap metal

The build experience was so memorable and I’m so glad I did it. I love how my Elemental Nature build turned out. If the new Elemental Nature is stunning, maybe I’d do it again.

While I like the new design I’m really glad I got the first version of protection and defense this October. I love the Old Republic style.

I'll forever be gutted that i missed this wonderful experience because of the App and Websites not working properly, not displaying the calendar at all at first (months prior to my trip to Batuu), then in the weeks prior to the trip the calendar started showing but accessing it was a chore and i always had an issue upon trying to validate a booking. Ultimately the App started working perfectly when i logged in while in Orlando and managed to make a booking for the single day i was visiting Hollywood Studios, only to be told in front of Saavi's Workshop that my reservation was actually for the Los Angeles Park and that Saavi's Workshop in Orlando had been fully booked for a while and there were no last minute cancellations for the day 🥲

I had been looking forward to it for 6 months or more, it was to be the highlight of the trip, so i just stood there crying like a moron, my feet hurting from the blisters i got running all the way from the Park entrance. Being one of the many foreign visitors, it's unfortunately not a trip i can afford every year. Still looking forward the the day i'll go back, maybe this time i'll actually get to build my lightsabre :)

Interesting tid bit: the engraving is in ur-kittât, which was the Sith Runes from The Rise of Skywalker, and translated says "Force Wielder"; the same as it says on the carrying bag in Aurabesh.

I just built a nearly identical P&D, except I chose one of the simpler designs for the upper sleeve. I will need to tweak the alignment on mine though, since not one of the pieces lines up with each other. Sigh.
For a collector they may be too expensive, but the whole experience was well worth the money for me as an infrequent guest for a single saber, and the saber does seem to be high quality (other than the alignment issue). I was really surprised by the weight of it.

I got a blue crystal at Savi's, and afterwards I went and bought green, yellow, and red crystals - and managed to snag a black crystal on my first try!

Thank you! I just went to Galaxy's Edge for the first time today and was just trying to remember what the emitter part that I didn't pick looked like. Then I got a whole lot of other information! Much appreciated :D By the way, I was immediately drawn to the Protection and Defense build. I love mine :)

Little late but tip is go to your hardware store and by a o ring I bought 2 and it made stuff Aline perfectly and really recommend 10/10

@SirJamesGamerfuzion Loved this video - went to Savi's and built my first - the elemental and wow!!! What an experience and now with the new items, will have to visit again. Noticed one thing in the silver of your sleeve - where there are for squares...there appears to be hidden Mickey's in each of the square panels with what appears to be wearing a crown. Could just be me but check at about the 8:50 mark in the video...and at 9:414-9:20. You built just a cool saber!

I do like your story concept of Old Republic and High Republic in that the details are more refined and finished in your High Republic saber. GREAT BUILDS and now I am subscribed to see what else you share.

Well that's a shame about the old pieces I was going to recreate (to the best of my ability) My lightsaber from Star Wars Jedi fallen order and yes I was going to 3D print the Jaro Tapal emitter but the old protection and defense pieces would have made up my lightsaber idea but I kind of like the new design as well and like a man of culture you went with purple I was going to do that too so your lightsaber is pretty much going to look like mine or vice versa but chances are I'm probably going to alter mine and repaint the silver to be a more pearlescent White because my favorite color scheme is generally pearlescent White iridescent gold and metallic purple or in some cases lighting is usually purple but still I'm glad I stumbled upon this video I'm going to Galaxy's Edge for my birthday in January in about a month so this will be fun.

I like the look of the new Protection and Defense sabers. Might have to make a trip back to Batuu East to build one! Great Review Sir James! My only gripe is that there is no covertech clip option for the hilt.

I built the same protection and defense, but I bought the yellow crystal and it has become my favorite. It looks so nice and sounds a bit different.

It's too busy! Nowhere for the eye to rest on. This set needed a couple of more plain / clean looking parts.

I live in Europe so I've only been to Galaxy's Edge once (Anaheim) qnd they didn't have Protection and Defense. I ended up building Elemental Nature (which I loved!) and thought that I'd have another shot at building an Old Republic lightsaber. Sadly the new one is from the New Republic era and although I like it I am so disappointed I never got to build an Old Republic lightsaber.

I found 1 on Ebay which had exactly the pieces I liked, but it was from the US so shipping costs are to high. Does anyone know how to get the Old Republic one and how long it will still be available?
