Because Filipinos are way more brown. At that time, US racism is way more obvious than today.

The proposal was denied by the political leaders during that time, being fed up due to the Spanish Colonialization, losing idetity as Filipinos becoming Americans

I think the Filipinos in this regards voted against the idea especially the politicians because philippines is not a small nation, it is big and can stand to govern their own and the philippines is a very populous nations and very rich in natural resources.

The Philippines was a US Commonwealth. The people were non citizen US nationals. It was decided that after a period of time of self rule, the Philippines will be granted independence. The Americans followed through with that promise and the Philippines became an independent country on July 4, 1946. The Philippines is America's staunchest ally in Asia.

Not true that Pinoys wanted to be annexed. We want to be independent. There were parties who campaigned for Philippines to be annexed but their campaigns never took off.

The Philippines wanted the US out of their country. When we left in the 1970s, they soon realized, big mistake! We never looked back.

The US at the time of Dec 7, 1941 acknowledge the dificulty of defending and securing the PH. This can be literraly interpreted in the draft speach of FDR where he omitted Manila and instead just let "the Hawaiian Island". Giving us the idea that the US is not willing to spent more or invest in an archipelago 13, 208 km away from its mainland.

It’s because we were promised independence after world war second in which the majority serving and dying on the archipelago were native Filipinos, both US soldier conscripts and Guerilla fighters.
