Prince: Most Beautiful Girl In The World - Can't Find it? Here's Why! A lot of people have been asking where Prince's The Most Beautiful Girl in the World has gone to online. You may be surprised to hear that an Italian court deemed it plagiarism of an 80s Italian hit called Takin' Me to Paradise. Wanna know what I think? Watch the video.

The melodies sound similar but that's because they're simple, so simple that you can imagine 2 people coming up with it without knowing each other's work. It's like saying that the Redbone riff by Childish Gambino is taken from the horn section of Ripopgodazippa, that's not plagiarism it's just a descending scale.
By the way I'm Italian and yes, our courts are very VERY slow

As a songwriter who listens to tons of songs naturally you'd be subconsciously influenced by parts of the "infectious" melodies that stick in your head. There is really nothing wrong with it.

I can imagine prince opening that court summons for the third time, rolling his eyes like 'this again..'

Oh lord have mercy...These chord progressions are so common in pop music. Has Prince ever sued someone for plagiarism? If so, he could have sued Ready For The World for their tune "Oh Sheila" which sounds an awful lot like "Lady Cab Driver"

As a musician I can almost positively say that all 3 songs have the same VOCAL MELODY. That's probably why he was sued.

As my college music professor would say: "Prince can steal anything he wants off of me. It would be the ultimate complement."

Ahh🤔🤔should’ve been seeing Cutting Crew? There’s no way this was plagiarism... Hope the estate has gone back to court on this. Prince absolutely has no desire nor reason to copy anyone’s music ... this is a ridiculous court case and tarnish no Prince lover will ever believe...

I am not a musician and I know there are subtle similarities in two different songs sometimes but Prince was way too talented to copy the music of another artist. He did not plagiarize Takin' Me To Paradise.

Their melody is very similar to Prince’s verse melody, but not exact and I doubt very much that he stole it! purely coincidental imho.

OMG when r people gonna stop trying 2 get theirs off of Prince! It's really making me angry and sad at the same time. Come on, Prince would NEVER steal someone else's work. Of all people Prince wouldn't do that. He encouraged every artist 2 write their own music not copy others. Prince is the man and always will b!

Just listened to Takin Me To Paradise. I too am a musician because of Prince. I do see the similarity, but it's not plagiarism. Songs use similar chord progressions. I remember when I was a child I saw some English band on tv that was playing a song similar to my song. I believe musicians hear music from other realms and bring it into this one. This is why many songs are similar in chord progression. Prince actually went to Journey regarding Purple Rain and Faithfully. Journey was cool with it. Hell Stevie Nicks wrote Stand Back listening to Little Red Corvette. I seriously doubt Prince heard that and ripped them off. Seems like those Italian men might know someone in the courts. Lastly, Prince would not have even listened to anything that cheesy as Takin Me To Paradise. With his sense of humor I can see his face being questioned about this fiasco talking in that Jamie Starr voice.... Man I miss Prince!

lol, ridiculous. I'm a professional songwriter and they sound completely different!

The vocal melody is similar, but the instrumentation and everything else sounds completely un-alike.

Thank you so much for clearing this up! I have been looking for this song since Prince died with no luck. I was so excited when Spotify finally released “The Gold Experience” only to see that the song was missing and no info about this anywhere! I hope they resolve this lawsuit soon.

It doesn't sound like the Most Beautiful Girl at all! It does sound like Cutting Crew's song.

WTF?? I havent heard about this. I was wondering why The Most Beautiful Girl in the World wasnt on the Gold Experience. I had downloaded the video months ago and even that wasnt playing anymore. This is definitely not plaglarized. They dont sound alike at all. The Italian song sounds like the other 80s song. I think they heard The Most Beautiful Girl in the World become a hit and wanted to capitalize by claiming plagiarism. Their song probably wasnt a big hit. The instrumentation and beat do not remotely sound the same. The rhythmic similarities dont sound as noticable because the arrangements are vastly different. Prince is a genius and wouldn't plagiarize another artist's work. This is ridiculous.

❤🎶🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Prince would NEVER plagiarize another's song. His Genius gives no reason to either. The other song does sound like Cutting Crew. The Most Beautiful Girl In the World is Classic & the lyrics are Amazing (glad I still have the cd). We got you Prince! Your Fam. Will Always stand up for you.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

It sounds similar, but Prince isn’t going to plagiarize anyone. When he recorded Purple Rain, he thought the guitar sounded similar to the guitar on one of Journeys songs. He called them, played the song for them and offered to change it. They said not to and they loved the song.
