Switching to Kalkwasser

In this video I talk about the new kalkwasser dosing method I'm using. I began to use kalk a few months ago but only as supplementation. After @melevsreef did a livestream with Chris from @aciaquaculture I decided to give his method of doubling the rate but only dosing when pH is less than 8.3 a try. For clarification, his method requires dosing saturated kalk, and I did not want to let my stirrer go to waste so I modified his method and am checking the pH of the stirrer periodically to confirm it is saturated.

Ok so if I understand this correctly, the Apex turns on the versa pump to the reactor if PH is less than 8.3? What is your flow rate for the versa pulling kalkwasser into the tank at? 5ml/min? 15ml/min? You have a calcium reactor there correct? Do you have both the kalk and calc effluent output near each other? Do they precipate each other at all? What kalkwasser are you using? Sorry if I missed some details :)

Ok if you really want to do Chris method, you really need to get ride of the kalk reactor. The correct way to do this method is only run the kalk at night and does your total evaporation your take has in 24 hour and dose that at night only. You need a container for this. I use a 10 gallon container that has a sealed lid. You need to fill this up and add kalk to where your PH in you kalk container is at 12.5. A kalk reactor can't do this.

How does the Apex turn on the Versa? Do you have the Versa already programmed with the dose rate, and it's on the apex programmable outlet? Or is there a way to control the Versa with the Apex? I use the Mobius app to control my Versa, I do not have an Apex, I have been using a Milwaukee PH controller but it always overshoots the PH. So I'm going to invest in an Apex Jr.
