The problem with most believers in Jesus Christ is that they simply do not study the Bible for themselves (reading ain't the same thing as studying) and are COMPLETELY ignorant of the original languages and historical/cultural context of the writing of the books of the Bible.
The problem with unbelievers in Jesus Christ is that they cannot spiritually understand the Bible. God only reveals Himself to the soul that is receptive. (I'm talking about revelation beyond the simplicity of the gospel message).

The funny thing about these is that if an atheist brings them up you usually don't even have to explain. You just ask "What contradictions?" And nine times out of ten they go totally silent because they don't actually know. They're repeating something another atheist said.

Listening to the question, I am at pains understanding the 'contradiction'... Its almost like nobody is looking for the Spirit behind the text but instead trying to follow the rule of the law which kills and condemns...

Even if we had the originals, there would still be debate over what they mean. The bottom line is either you want to believe or you don't. If you don't want to believe, then who cares what your concerns are?
