Many years ago, as a child, I often thought, ' Why doesn't Jehovah make what he really wants perfectly clear as the perfect God he is?'. I, of course, never voiced that out loud.

When you’re taught not to think critically, these issues don’t exist.

Remember that no matter how obvious the biblical contradiction, it can always be “harmonized” by the sheer force of the apologist’s will and through mental gymnastics. This does not mean their solutions are satisfactory for anyone who is skeptical, but they allow for those that already to believe to continue to do so by offering them a good enough answer.

I would add to Example 2 with regard to punishing children for the sins of parents as being the whole idea behind Original Sin, that we are somehow guilty because of what Adam and Eve did, definitionally immoral.

You are 100% right if we are entrusting our soul to this book then it shouldn’t have contradictions it should be a uniform message. It’s a cop out that JW ‘s use the vague portions to push their ideals. Thanks again for this video!

This is exactly what I have been discussing lately. You can find scriptures to support or discredit almost every doctrine.

The beautiful things about the bible is that you can make it mean absolutely anything you want it to mean. With a little bit of interpretation it's a great tool for reinforcing any of your existing views or biases.

I really liked the video! It was videos like this that pulled me out of Jehovah's Witness indoctrination. My process of "waking up" was due to perceiving contradictions in the bible. Jehovah's Witnesses emphasize not to watch criticism of the organization, but they don't say much about watching criticism of the bible, specifically 🤷🏽‍♂️ so I "nipped it in the bud" and I didn't look out for a Christian religion to follow. (I think it's important to say that I respect those who believe in it).

Idk why I still feel certain apprehension when encountering this topic 😂 It’s as if I’m trying to protect the Bible itself in my head. I did notice some of these contradictions while I was a JW but I guess I ignored them. Time to face the facts!

How did Saul die?

Saul committed suicide (I Samuel 31:4-6) (I Chronicles 10:4-5).

Saul was killed by an Amalecite (II Samuel 1:8-10).

Saul was killed by the Philistines (II Samuel 21:12).

A JW accused me of cherrypicking Bible verses, even though I was the one insisting on reading whole chapters for context... apparently, when WT does it, it's totally okay.

A couple of years ago I had a very interesting conversation with a friend who is a religious historian, concerning quite a few oddities within the Bible. One which I found particularly intriguing (and funny) was about the stark difference between the First Epistle of John and Book of Revelation; a difference which is part of the modern scolarly argument, by some scolars, that these particular scriptures are not likely written by the same person.
My friend does not think so:
"Oh, those scriptures could very well have been written by the same person with say 20-30 years in between. It would make complete psychological sense and be very human. The First Epistle oozes salvation for everyone - that`s like the benevolent Grandmother embracing all the grandkids on monday morning, before Mum and Dad takes off on vacation - whereas Revelations is almost an acid trip of pure anger and fantasy of vengeance - being the same Grandmother on thursday afternoon, at wit`s end, exausted, and having lost all illusions, standing on a chair in the living room, shouting: "You little s...s; you just wait till your Parents hear of this; you won`t be able to sit for week!!!"

😆 I'm dying laughing over Lloyd's lowkey trolling the lurking Dubs by repeatedly using the term "crucifixion" to describe Jesus's method of execution.

If God hates those that lie and those that shed innocent blood then he must really hate the Governing Body.

Thank you Lloyd. Beautiful work as always. Compiling a list of contradictions from the Bible is actually something I've been meaning to do for a while now. Your work is deeply appreciated and very much useful.
