In the US, it is difficult to find a car with a manual shift. Car dealers stopped making them, because there is very little demand. When the employees boss told him he had a car with a manual shift, my first thought was he was wealthy, and enjoyed driving a high end sports car. That's pretty much where you will see a manual shift in the US today. I enjoy driving cars with an automatic shift not only because it is easier, but it also enables you to better see interesting things you drive by.

Since there are no manual electric cars, soon all cars will be automatic. Just racing cars and cars for enthusiasts (honda civic r-type, 300ps+ cars) will be manual.
