Yes, i ve experienced it. It had nice interface, especially the live tiles, obviously needed more work and polish. It had it's nuances, but should have competed and offered us an alternative, could have also morphed into mobile pc ecosystem (what windows 10 and onwards tried to achieve).

I really liked my windows phone (I also loved my Zune too) but I had to switch to android due to the lack of apps as well

I had three Windows Phones. One was a Samsung Focus running 7 that met an unfortunate end when I dropped it glass first and absolutely shattered it. Then I eventually got a Lumia 920, technically two of them. One of them had the vibration motor die and the other got insane dust accumulation in the front facing lens. Both were warrantied by AT&T and after the second 920 had issues offered me a free Lumia 1520 (I was surprised they would offer me a free top of the line Windows Phone and I think they were surprised I wanted it). Loved that phone dearly but the lack of apps really got painful and I left the platform at the end of 2014. I’ve since never used a phone platform I loved but tried to find one A LOT over the years! I even stood in line twice for the Note7. I sure am great at picking out winners!

I'll be honest, windows now supports android apps. and if microsoft supports the idea for windows phone, it's going to rock. trust me, it will just break the system. I'm also trying to revive the OS by creating support for missing apps. let's see what happens next!
