The longest consort in history. He never outshined her and her strength and stay as she stated through the years. He worked tirelessly throughout his life understanding what duty meant and a wonderful companion to the Queen for over 70 years. The county is mourning a great man. My Condolences to the Queen and entire Royal family. Rest in peace.

He was absolutely handsome. I can see why she was so captivated by him. My parents have been married for 67 years and could only imagine how they will feel when they lose one another. My heart goes out to the queen and Prince Philip's family.

What admirable about Prince Philip is that he was once considered an outsider by the Royal Family but he stood his ground, supported Queen Elizabeth. He was an Alpha Man but he was very comfortable with his manhood, did not mind walking two steps behind the Queen. He was there for his wife.

End of an era, he will be missed. RIP to the faithful Prince who served for and beside his queen. What a sad day 😢

These were probably the only photos of Her Majesty smiling genuinely, even laughing. With him. She loved him, I think.

Prince Philip was the oldest man ever to be on the throne and a 73 year marriage is amazing. R.I.P

He devoted almost entire of his life for the Queen. Now time for him to return and reunite with his family; dad mom and his sisters who once tore apart during the revolution😢🙂

A life well lived. I hope all of us here should be so lucky to live as long as he did.

Their love affair was longer than 70 years...she’d had a “crush” on him when she was 13 and met him again when she was 18. Wish there were more healthy relationships in the world and couples can enjoy that kind of long lasting love the Queen and her Prince shared. My prayers go out to the Royal Family❤️

From the Fiji Islands, Thank you to the Duke of Edinburgh for visiting the Fiji Islands in 1973. Our humble village of Tavuki in Kadavu was honoured to host His Royal Highness and his late uncle Lord Mountbatten. I was just a 14 year old, the Fijian cultural protocol performed at his visit, has never been seen again. God bless the Queen.
