The Most Haunted House in Ireland: The Loftus House

There are plenty of haunted places in Ireland, but none quite so haunted as Loftus Hall. The Loftus Hall haunting legend tells of a poor girl's imprisonment - as well as a visit from the Devil himself - and ends with hauntings so vivid that, according to lore, spirits appear vividly in photographs. Because the hall has cycled through numerous owners over its vast history, determining who may still roam its ancient corridors poses a particularly eerie challenge.

Loftus Hall, though it may be one of Ireland's many houses marked by the Devil, is still a lovely piece of architecture. Despite its dark history, the Hall elicits visitors from around the globe with its unique design and furnishings. Of course, ghost hunters have ventured there as well, many of whom have met with a seemingly paranormal welcome.

I went there when I was about 13 with a few friends and their mam, I actually don't remember why we were there but I remember getting anxiety that we were being followed throughout the entire time we looked at it. It wasn't like "oh we are at a haunted house somethings oh I'm scared" I mean the feeling you get walking through a dark alley and you hear footsteps behind you.

My mother lived at Loftus Hall as a young girl with the nuns before she herself became a nun. She wasnt a wayward youth she was an orphan. I can picture her polishing the famous staircase which is one of only 3 in the world one being in the Titanic, one in Loftus and one in the Vatican.

I had the pleasure of taking part in their tour and was assigned the role of Anne for their roleplay, never have I ever fought more against looking under a table in my life.

I did an overnight lockdown in Loftus Hall back in 2016. It was around Halloween time. You could buy tickets and when you arrived at the property around 9pm they first gave you a dimly lit tour followed by a pitch black investigation of the property with a group of “ghost hunters” until about 5.30am. It was such an uneasy experience. You always felt like someone was watching you. It was a great experience though.

You deserve way more views and subs. The writing, editing and execution of your videos are great, and so is your voice! I prefer it so much to teenagers sitting in front of their cameras or those weird computer voices reading out scripts. Keep it up!

That's the Clare coastline along the cliff's of Moher not the Hook peninsula near loftus hall in the opening scene.

To continue the Irish theme, how about Castle Leap next? That’s one of the creepiest hauntings I’ve ever heard of, due to the presence of the elemental.

I feel bad for the demon. All he wanted was a girlfriend

Would love to see more of these mini-documentaries of spooky places and objects. I usually don’t listen to the spooky stories episodes, but am fascinated by learning real supernatural history.

Many years ago, when I was a teenager, I dreamed about this place, it was a nightmare actually. The same cliff, the same rooms and stairs, I run from something evil. It was so real. I've never knew about this place until a few month ago. I'm 31 now and still remember that awful dream 😥

Ann did give birth, but the reason she fell into depression was cause her father took the baby killed it, and buried it in the wall, it was Ann who noticed the stranger had cloven feet, not her dad. the new owners did find a skeleton of a baby in the wall. 1775 how would we know this if it wasn't for the true story loftus hall does not fail to deliver and prove the stories true. my absolutee favorite place in Ireland .

My ancestors in the 1650s owned the loftus hall, they fled to America and changed the spelling of their last name from loftus to loftice. Cool to know my bloodline lived there, sooo beautiful and the stories are crazy.
