Mitochondrial Eve

Mitochondrial Eve is a concept in human genetics that refers to the most recent common matrilineal ancestor from whom all living humans are descended through their maternal line. This hypothetical woman is not considered the only woman alive during her time, but rather the one whose mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) lineage has survived to the present day. Mitochondrial DNA is inherited exclusively from the mother, making it a valuable tool for tracing maternal ancestry. Based on genetic studies, scientists estimate that Mitochondrial Eve likely lived in Africa around 100,000 to 200,000 years ago. While she was just one of many individuals living at that time, the unique preservation and transmission of her mitochondrial lineage have led to her designation as the common ancestor of all modern humans in terms of maternal descent. The concept of Mitochondrial Eve provides insights into the evolutionary history and migration patterns of our species.

The people who made this study said they based all their research on the ASSUMPTION that we all have one common ancestor. They never proved it using "science".
