probably the most intense Grandmother Visit in recorded History

The scene starts with Paul not realizing how much danger he is in. It ends with the Reverend Mother EXACTLY aware of how much danger she is in.

"your mother stands behind the door, no one will get past her" That statement always gets me, just how much of a badass Jessica is

The Voice was done perfectly in this adaptation. So much bass. Nearly knocked me over in the theater.

The on-set crew said they thought Timothy Chalamet was going to pass out from doing this scene. The sheer intensity he needed to show in his face requires immense nerves...kind of like forcing your blood to pump quicker by tensing.

The shock on her face when he looks up to stare at her in defiance is one of the most badass scenes in cinematic history.

What I particularly like about this scene: in book and previous film abd TV series, Paul tolerates pain, keeps hand in the box, but still, is subdued by it. But here, when he looks up, he shows that he prevails, that he is winning in this mental combat, and Reverent Mother is actually afraid of him...

A masterful scene. The look of fear on her face when she realises the pain has awoken something in him and made him stronger. When she truly sees that he may be the Kwisatz Haderach

Dune (2021): A young man puts his hand in an old woman's box and feels a burning sensation

What I like about Jessica in Villeneuve version is that she is human, she fears for the life of her son and is genuinly terrified. It gives a human touch to Jessica.

I like the machine whirring sounds the box is making. It reminds us how despite the setting of the movie seeming so magical and fantastical, its all just extremely developed technology

"...You have more than one birthright boy." I like that line, Paul had been so focused on following in his father's footsteps that he'd forgotten that all the real power he truly possesses comes from his mother, who is a remarkably powerful person herself. I also love how the scene intensifies as he pushes his mind to overcome the growing pain...and in doing so, he is awakening his visions...I think the Reverand Mother saw this in Paul and cut the test short so he didn't awaken too much. She was terrified of what he might become...more powerful than the Bene Gesserut, the Houses, and certainly more powerful than the Emperor.

3:07 this scene is all about power. That glare. It's at this moment where she realises she is suddenly afraid of him.

3:25, the moment Paul realizes, he is the main character.

Charlotte Rampling was a perfect casting choice. hell they all were, but the intensity between Chalamet and Rampling was amazing.

I like how the Dune spiritually and philosophically analyses the concept of free will and FATE. It is more like a grey area. Where your past and environment shapes you, you still have a choice between events. But usually in the first movie all of his visions were from the future. So in Dune universe, i think fate is something inevitable, that is always ''coming at you'' but if you fear your fate and lose faith, you will ''die''' So you must not fear what life throws at you and be courageous. ''I must not fear, fear is the mind killer.''

Thats why this quote exist: ''The mystery of life isn't a problem to solve, but a reality to experience. A process that cannot be understood by stopping it. We must move with the flow of the process. We must join it. We must flow with it.''
