The Atlanta Campaign vs. The Overland Campaign

The Overland Campaign and The Atlanta Campaign of the Civil War happened almost simultaneously during the summer of 1864 as Ulysses S. Grant matched up against Robert E. Lee in the East, and William T. Sherman opposed Joseph E. Johnston in the West. The ultimate prize? Control of the crucial Southern cities of Richmond and Atlanta.

Garry Adelman and Kris White debate the two pivotal campaigns.

The American Battlefield Trust preserves America’s hallowed battlegrounds and educates the public about what happened there and why it matters. We permanently protect these battlefields for future generations as a lasting and tangible memorial to the brave soldiers who fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil War.

That’s amazing you all took the time to visit us here in Atlanta!

Growing up and attending school in Cincinnati/Northern KY, not a lot of battles or skirmishes in that area.

I’ve been a transplant in Atlanta since 2017, there’s SO much Civil War history around here. My goal is to visit every battlefield from Chattanooga to Savannah!

I visited wilderness/spotsylvania in the spring and New Market/Cedar Creek last week.. so it's great to see how these different campaigns worked together.

I just checked to make sure the problem wasn’t on my end. Your audio is turned around so that Kris’s voice is coming from the passenger side and Garry's voice is coming from the driver’s side.
