This journey through episodes made my heart hurt SO much for all the kids. My mom is very similar to Kate. I went no contact with her 6 years ago and I'm battling with severe psychological problems to this day. I can't imagine going through my childhood in front cameras and the whole world. I really hope "the 8" get to heal from this all. They all deserve a happy ending.

Theres a episode of Kate plus 8 and I believe they are on a trip to Maine on vacation and all the kids pick Kate a Mother’s Day gift or birthday gift I can’t remember which but Collin picks his mom out a bear statue and Kate is so rude about it. She acts completely disgusted and confused to why Collin would pick her out a bear statue. It was really sad.

The Ace of Cakes cross over was HUGE for me. I ate up Cake boss and Ace of Cakes and this was mind blowing as a kid 😂

I’m glad you did this series. It’s been an awesome look back because while I remember it being chaotic and Kate being mean to well like everyone. It was a lot rougher than I remembered. Kate way more abrasive, cruel, and her thing for public humiliation is disturbing and that’s not even going into the stuff she did to Collin. I hope ALL the kids are okay today and I hope the ones with Jon are happier, doing well, and that their relationship with their father is good. Idk why but the scene of her talking to the kid about the dogs she doesn’t like felt so awkward for some reason like that kid was like 7 Kate don’t get her hopes up she can have the dog 😅 but you can almost feel the irritation she has towards whatever it is she’s complaining about when she speaks.

Maybe they could’ve made the marriage work, but Kate never was willing to change it is and probably still is a her way or the highway type person. She never seemed to see how cruel she was to Jon. He isn’t perfect by any means, but it’s a lot and you’ve really managed to give us a good balance throughout your coverage of this and I love how you actually give the kids attention in your commentary because it’s the kindness I wish Kate would’ve spoken to the kids with. Like show some interest and quit complaining Kate. You make your kids so uncomfortable and it’s so clear and perfectly on display when she took the older twins on the today show or whatever and told them to use their word before even giving them a moment to speak - I can see why they just shut down more during that interview. And of course, I believe Collin and what he had to deal with and I just hope he can find healing from all of the trauma that likely caused. ❤

I wish we knew what Kate was like before kids. I have three, no multiples. I homeschool, work a part time job and take them with me so we are together 24/7. I’ll tell you, regardless of how much I absolutely love and adore my children, I am STRESSED. I clean the floor 2-3 times a day because it’s the only thing I have control over within the chaos. Lol And that’s okay. But I couldn’t imagine myself with twins and sextuplets! Maybe I would be a bigger stress ball and a control freak too. The stuff with Colin and treating Jon like a child I can’t understand or condone at all. But I do see the human in her and feel bad for her sometimes.

I'll be fair and say that Emeril was a big enough name back in the day that I'm not surprised Kate said his name like that. He was bigger in my parents' day 😂 the only reason I remember him was that he had catchphrases like "Bam!" and "Let's kick it up a notch!" which got him a little celebrity attention outside Food Network at the time. This is why Kate weirdly said "Bam!" after smacking Emeril.

about the playhouses- i don’t understand why kate would argue that the safer option is to have the houses split up with the little kids in the yard for easy access, when the SAFEST option is clearly to have all the houses together in the woods (hidden from paparazzi) and have an adult go with your TODDLERS every time.

I remember watching this show when I was a preteen w/ my much older sister & when John & Kate had their divorce announcement episode it was marketed as “A big announcement” & I immediately said that they were getting a divorce. My older sister & I argued until it was finally announced. She kept saying “no way, they have too many kids to split & the kids are too young” & my only argument was: look at them, they don’t even like each other any more 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don’t understand why they always treat the twins like they deserve special treatment as if having more siblings is like an unfair burden It sends a bad message to them like they’re separate and better than the rest of the kids

100% agree that it’s much MORE damaging to kids for two angry, fighting parents to stay together than to separate. When people like that stay together, they create an environment of constant stress & anxiety for kids and it shows their kids really bad examples of what loving, respectful relationships actually should be. Then, the kids grow up either treating their own partners badly, or they let their partners treat THEM badly- because they think that’s normal! Good parents would try their best to NOT expose their kids to that negativity and would not stay in a relationship like the one we see with Jon & Kate. Yet so many parents still do it because they think they’re teaching their kids a positive thing (which they’re not) and because they fear people will judge them for separating, so they put their own fear of being judged in front of their kids’ emotional needs. It’s just crazy how clueless some parents are…😂
