The B7 Audi RS4 will always be remembered as a pivotal moment in the brand’s performance car history. Ditching the turbocharged setup that was a hallmark of previous fast Audis was a brave call, but one that undoubtedly paid off.

For under the bonnet of this sensible looking estate was, perhaps, one of the greatest engines ever made. A 4.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 developing 414bhp, it would take the fight to another N/A monsters from both BMW and Mercedes-Benz. But, would it be the ultimate RS?

I love my Avus Silver B7 RS4. I wouldn’t trade the car for anything. Yeah it’s pricy to maintain and can be quite temperamental when it gets in a bad mood but when all is well... there is nothing like it you will ever dive. NOTHING. I have Milltek downpipes and full exhaust and that takes the car to an even more amazing level. The only car I’ve ever driven that is similar is it’s German cousin the E92 M3 and I’ll still take the RS4 any day. I hope everyone who wants one gets to drive one someday. You will fall in love and the car will steal your heart just like it did mine.

I love the B7 RS4. It looks so right, chunky yet subtle unlike the laser cars which are becoming very in your face. The engine is fabulous and makes an amazing noise despite rarely making anywhere near the claimed power. I’ve driven one and loved it, especially the wing back seats.

I’d happily have one today.

Love these. Weird thing is though, mk3 S3 2.0 beats in 1/4 mile and can give high 30s mpg at cruise.

Still rather have the B7 RS4 tucked in the garage though, waiting for B road blasts to empty its tank of super in 20mins!

Great video! I own a 2006 Audi RS4 B7, I purchased it a few months ago in Australia and I'm so confused as to why the price is so low compared to cars with similar performance when I bought it I was waiting and expecting to find something horribly wrong with it or to find the car underwhelming but instead I found it beating my expectations and accidentally realized I also bought a fantastic daily driver that's not too bad on fuel compared to my old car and is just nicer to drive when I'm not pedal to the metal. Great review!

Very, very good video, these Audi's also had fabulous build quality and I think the internal and external design has aged extremely well and even better no touch screens or controller! Is a C63 Estate be quicker?

I find the most impressive element is the braking performance, with good tyres they out brake anything else I have driven including my 911.
