I actually did become Muslim in jail. My family say they saw the best side of me once I became Muslim. Before islam I was all over the place. Drink, drugs, anger issues, ptsd, depression. Islam was the answer to all my problems. When I read the Quran in my cell, I couldn’t put it down, witching minutes I was so fascinated by Allahs words. I read day and night even long into the night and accepted islam. I felt like a new baby. All my problems came to an immediate end. That was 15 years ago. I am now married to a muslima and we pray together with our kids

I’m 11 and a Muslim. I’ve been Muslim for 3 years now. It’s been such a hard journey for me as I couldn’t tell my Islam a phobic parents about it 😢. I hope in the future it will get better ❤️‍🩹. Very well said. For example, Malcolm X became muslim while he was in prison and changed his whole life around and till this day is one of the greatest leaders of the last century.

That’s actually a genuine and great way to think about this.

These people who have converted to Islam in prison could have come from extremely chaotic backgrounds with no solid foundation as to how to live a meaningful, productive and healthy life, of course spiritual as well.

I am not a Muslim, but I have been and am little curious about the religion. I admire the brotherhood and the solid consistency that the people hold when it comes to acting out their beliefs.

I once met a guy from Luton who moved from it after being freed from prison, as he wanted to stay away from bad company back in his home town.

I met him at a mosque, to which he'd gained direction using Google maps, and he came with the intention to convert to Islam..I asked him if he knew alot about Islam, and he was well versed in basic Islamic beliefs..I asked where did he learn about it, and it was during his stay at prison..then I asked why didn't you convert inside prison if you were convinced then!

He said I didn't want my in prison conversion to Islam to be interpreted as a weakness and seeking for protection, and that's why he delayed conversion until he left prison..he took his Shahadah with me then, and there, may the Most High preserve him and protect him wherever he is now..ameen
