Provo Culture with Kwaku El

Hey everyone, in this week's video I invited my friend Kwaku El (from Saints Unscripted) to talk about what it's like living in Provo, Utah and a little bit about Provo culture!

Just so you know, we over-exaggerate a LOT in this video so please take no offense! Overall, I LOVE living in Provo and I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at BYU! There are so many unique things to Provo like getting married at age 18, Provo All-Stars, Provo's Most Eligible (the Bachelor of Provo), Sodalicious, VASA gym, Brigham Young University, Provo parties, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, LDS missionaries and more!

Thank you SO much for watching! Do you live in Provo or plan on moving here someday? Did you agree with our theories about living in Provo? Feel free to leave me any video suggestions you have in the comments below & if you enjoyed this video, be sure to let me know so I can make more collabs! 💕

I love each and every one of you SO much! Thank you so much for your love and support! I can't wait to chat with you in the comments!

Interesting to hear the culture difference! I’m 24 in England and none of my friends my age are married or engaged or even thinking about it! I’ve been with my boyfriend for 4 years and there is some talk of engagement now, but it’s really normal here to have a long term relationship before considering marriage! I do like the sound of the non drinking culture there though, unfortunately here it’s the norm to binge drink

I have a feeling if I go there I'm just gonna silently laugh at everyone in my head

This is so interesting. I'm from NJ, and I've only met one "mormon" in my life. BYU/Provo culture seems like something out of a movie to me it's so fascinating

So adorable! YOUR RIGHT. I was 24 and my husband was 22 when we got married and I thought I was so old. So hilarious.

"Zoo" was a slang term for BYU in the late 20th century, so that's where "zoobies" came from 😁

Maybe I'm in the minority on this, but I never felt a strong pressure to get married in Provo. My bishops would push us to date, but I don't think I ever had a bishop that pushed us to get married. I would feel down about being single, but I think I would have felt that way regardless of where I was living. I'd hear a lot of jokes about getting married young, but that's about it. I got married at 25, but all before then I never felt an intense pressure to get married.

This is all so funny, haha! I love the way LDS members party! I would kinda fit in because I don’t drink or do drugs, but I get anxiety around big party crowds! Must mostly because I’m used to it being drunk people, so maybe I wouldn’t get anxiety!

BYU and Provo have changed quite a bit since I was there in the late 80s.

Soda is far worse for your body and mind than coffee. Small amounts of alcohol too.

You still havent given a reason why mountain dew is fine but not coffee. Coffee actually has benefits especially if black where mountain dew is terrible for you

My parents met at BYU their first semester, and got engaged 6 months later when they were 18.

Provo is great and all, but Bountiful is definitely the place to be if your a Latter-day Saint. It's more of a hidden gem😉

I agree chip makes the best chocolate chip cookie. Crumble is good for the flavors.
