"As usual, in science in general, and in mathematics in particular, sometimes if you take a good point of view, everything becomes clean and amusing, but if you take the wrong point of view, everything becomes ugly and really painful."

I want to imagine this man teaches in bare feet on the floor all the time, while constantly spouting quippy one-liners like this.

"this is most disappointingly interesting, ... or is it interestingly disappointing?" I chuckled at his pause to do a quick analysis of linguistic commutativity!

"You're not breaking any rules?" "Well, who knows?" I love that

kind of poetic that two the same loops will split apart and two opposites will interlock and form two hearts. :P

What I found to be perhaps more interesting, is that cutting the one with two of the same chirality rendered one loop consisting of 2 heart bottoms, and the other consisting of 2 heart tops

Is there a part 3? Also this guy is ace :-) Keeps it very interesting while explaining
EDIT: Is the answer that although it is a symmetrical shape it has an "outside" and "inside" so to speak, when split the produce different shapes?

OMG - tho this body is now 62, my whole life may well have been different had this man been one of my maths teachers, earlier on. Such clarity, simplicity - just amazing!!

He's somehow more "present" than most people/teachers/presenters - not getting ahead of himself - no eagerness to just cut to the chase, get to the end result. He's somehow able to stay with us - to be aware of our presence, almost. His perspective is not just his, but _ours_, as well. Awesome stuff - Love this guy!!

I'm loving these videos, but I'm afraid they've put my brain in a knot I have no idea how to unfold. And please don't say take scissors and cut it in half.

I was giggling and smiling all the way through these videos like a four year old kid watching magic. This was awesome! I would love to see more of Dr. Tadashi's in these videos. This man is brilliant!

It feels like there's more to this - he didn't even finish the thought...

Watching those paper videos makes me understand why so many mathematicians are into topology!

Anyone else notice the final cut of same chirality produces the top halves of the hearts together, and the bottom halves together?
