Logitech M720 disassembly & microswitch repair

Показать описание
Replacing a microswitch on a Logitech m720 triathlon mouse, because it had started to not press sometimes and sometimes it would press on its own.

an MX510 was used as a donor for the repair, also note if you are using donors to swap the microswitches, not all microswitches sound the same, some are louder than others, so in some cases its can be beneficial to swap both left and right buttons so they sound the same.

Thank you so very, very much for the video! I just repaired my M720. It had been bugging me for 2 years, and I only bought it 3 years ago! The desoldering part was really hard for me, and I was sure I had damaged the PCB, but everything worked out in the end, to my pleasant surprise lol. I feel like I have a brand new mouse now! Thanks again!

Thank you for the mention of just cleaning the top part. When I opened mine up, I found so many little hairs and dust bunnies all over. Ended up just using compressed air and soap and water for the top part because the switch actually sounded okay (similar sound to the right-click button). Relieved that I didn't need to spend extra time soldering.
Saving this video for later when the switch ultimately needs to be replaced.
Thanks again!

Thank you for the video! Maybe some hints ... If you first warm up the skids or stickers up to 40°C with e.g. a hair dryer, they will come off more easy and don't get damaged. Soldering with 390°C is little high, you could damage electronic and/or plastic parts, try it with lower temps 330 ... 350°C. Use the vacuum pump first, without using solder wick before, because the pump works better with more solder to remove!

Thanks a lot for the tutorial, was really useful. For replacing the switches I used the microswitches RUNJRX Kailh Black GM8.0 (same used with G604 with success but for the G604 I used the reds), the Red Kailh GM4.0 works too with less sharp noise click, both works perfect and they are the best switches in the market, you can buy them in Amazon. Don't ever buy the crappy Omron.

I'm trying to find a broken connection somewhere in my M720, so the disassembly was really helpful to watch, as well as listening to your rationale on what parts can stay together as a unit and what parts need to be disassembled further!

Hey where From Helsinki do you hail from, and how much do you charge for replacing the left button of that same exact mouse?

Followed this tutorial until the moment I found myself unable to get rid of the original micro-switch, way more difficult than it seems in this video, and ended up in misery with only the pin stuck in the hole unmoved not even a millimeter while the tins and the upper part of the switch detached...

Do you happen to have the circuit picture or diagram without the left microswitch? While I was doing the replacement, the solder pad came off and also I have damaged the pcb circuit on the left click side; to rebuild the trace, looking for some references. M720 - Logitech.

Nice video! Unfortunately I don't have any donors. What micro-switch would you suggest purchasing?

I just purchased mine and it has a pretty audible rattle sound when using it. Am I the only one with this problem or is it normal in this model?

The mouse could have been made simpler over all.

Just put a drop or two of WD40 in the button and let it soak in a bit, clicking it, letting it move around. After some time, it will be back to working normally. This video is OVERKILL

- the sick company what you do not known
- have changed structure of materials
//once upon time are rubber and now plastic
- and so when you take "new mice" is not same as old ones
//old ones do not gliding from hand

- I have not words is some most advanced for normal usage devices but everything else
