↓ You need to understand this to fix your procrastination

Procrastination is a state where you know exactly what to do, but for some reason, you can’t start acting on your task.

Often, it’s a fact that your mind gets overwhelmed with your task and thinks it's something inedible.

This is where The Two-Minute Rule comes into play:

When you are just about to start a task, decide to commit yourself to do it for 2 minutes.
After those 2 minutes, you can get back to whatever you’ve been doing before.

This rule may look foolish to you, but there is a strong “why” this method works so well.

And it’s because your mind works similarly to your digestive system.

If your mental plate is too full, it becomes essential for your mind to break down complex tasks into more manageable parts for the mind to process effectively.

And when you take a task (that looks like it will take forever) and decide to commit yourself to do it for ONLY 2 minutes, it looks really reasonable for your mind to just get over it quickly.

Here’s how to use it:

1)Identify the Task:

Start by identifying the larger task that you've been putting off. It could be anything from replying to emails to starting a project or cleaning a room.

2)Make a 2-Minute Commitment:

Make a conscious decision to commit just 2 minutes to the task. This short time frame helps overcome the mental resistance to starting. Set a timer or clock for two minutes and focus solely on the task during this period.

3)Keep going:

After the 2 minutes, evaluate your progress. Often, you'll get an additional hit of motivation, realizing that you've made significant progress in the task, making it attractive to finish. If the task is larger and requires more time, you've already overcome the initial hurdle of starting.

So, if you find yourself struggling with productivity,
The 2 minute rule got you covered.

Give this strategy a shot, and you'll find yourself overcoming procrastination.
