ABOUT THE VOICE
The four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice" returns as Queen of Country Reba McEntire claims her red chair alongside last season's champ, Niall Horan, and returning superstar coaches John Legend and Gwen Stefani as they vie to discover and coach the next singing phenomenon.

The show's innovative format features five stages of competition: Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, Knockouts, Playoffs and Live Performance Shows.

This season, the block returns to the Blind Auditions, and during Battles, each coach will have two steals to use. The Three-Way Knockouts are also back. This time, however, artists will select their own songs to perform.

Once the Live Performance Shows begin, the top artists will compete against each other weekly during a live broadcast. This time, the television audience will vote to save their favorite artists. In the end, one artist will be named "The Voice" and receive the grand prize of a recording contract.

This show (and shows like this one) probably pay them just as much as touring would, so it’s a pretty good gig for them to land.

You get to stay in one place for an extended amount of time. You still get to be around the music you love, but you don’t have to be out on the stage for hours night after night.

Some people give artist who do this kinda thing a hard time, even artist who do residency’s like Adele in Vegas, say they’re selling out or washed up. I think it’s getting a bit better as bigger artist who are still popular and touring are now taking the jobs because of all the benefits I said and more.

I really like seeing a different side to artist I already like, it’s fun. I would love to see them mix it up and bring at least one new person on a season. Like could you imagine how fun Cher would be!?
