As a black female in tech, I just resign from my job a few weeks ago for the same reason. I'm trying to figure out if blacks can even fit in the tech industry. Looks like I wasted money and time on a tech degree...smh

I work in IT and I’ve experienced this too. When she said delay, deny & deflect. I just let it slide. I know my time there is limited. I’ll start my own company.

Hypocrisy on big tech... lack of diversity- these folks don’t want to diversify.

The ignorance in this comments section shows that nothing will most likely change.

I don't understand how it isn't a company's responsibility to make an employee feel at home and accepted.

At my place of employment, I had a Caucasian friend who jokes around with me a lot, sometimes a little too much. For example, I am walking down the hall with my laptop and he states to me, every time I see you have something in your hand, implying that I am stealing. I mean it’s my job, I am in IT you know, does he talk like this to his Caucasian friends? Of course not. I laugh and keep going. To be honest with you, I believe this guy. He has resigned from the company. This is the reason why he is speaking out because he doesn’t have the risk of being fired. Always pay attention to leadership and how they run the company, it starts with the head. How can you have diversity when your company doesn’t have a diversity of people. “They blame it on African Americans not being technical enough, but to be honest with you, I can racially out innovate most of the company’s in Silicon Valley because of diversity”. Almost every company there looks the same in what they do.
There have been so many issues surrounding Facebook it is ridiculous, from head executives leaving Instagram, leaving WhatsApp. They have had data breaches of over 50 million user’s data.
There is too much division with the leadership at Facebook. A divided house cannot stand!

I am "personally touched" by this person speaking out because he became my voice in a matter of days. I am a small Owner of a online store for women's clothing. I started experiencing this on Instagram 1st, where I like a post, then all of a sudden out of nowhere my account is flagged somehow, & I cannot like posts and I was called "unsafe to the community". This happened IMMEDIATELY after I liked a David Banner video on "the re-shift of your focus" which he put out right around the Kanye West WH Visit. My timeline was flooded with it as if it was done "intentionally" to keep people upset. This happened 2 times a week *WITHOUT ANY RECOURSE OR POSSIBLE CHAT HELP OR ASSISTANCE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE.* Then on the Sunday of the week of Thanksgiving, *ALL OF MY ACCOUNTS FOR MY BUSINESS PAGE AND PERSONAL WERE BLOCKED AND FLAGGED WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION GIVEN, MY AD ACCOUNT AND BUSINESS PAGE ON FACEBOOK BLOCKED, MY CLOTHING STORE LINK TO MY WEBSITE BLOCKED, AND I WAS UNABLE TO POST ANYTHING until AFTER BLACK FRIDAY AND CYBER MONDAY and ALL OF MY PRODUCTS WERE UN-SYNCED & DENIED WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION GIVEN, AND THE TICKETS I SUBMITTED HAVE GONE UNRESOLVED, and I was unable to run the Ads I set in place.* I truly was feeling as if I was specifically targeted because of my Race. If you like anything that deals with the "Black Community" this happens. I had Other Black People tell me that this was also happening to them too. I follow couture houses with hand beading gowns and such, & fun things like diy, etc., yet this was on my timeline WAY TOO OFTEN. I began to notice that if I liked ANYTHING FROM A PARTICULAR PERSON who Might be a "LEADER", even when I liked it for a different reason, I was flagged and my account was like that for hours.

I also noticed that creating and revision options on the "Facebook Pages App" became extremely limited, and this was forcing me to have to log in to my personal account 1st, bypass ALL of the distractions, then go to my business account, because honestly, I was not engaging on Facebook. *THIS FORMER EMPLOYEE'S POST CONFIRMED THAT I WAS NOT ALONE, THAT THIS IS HAPPENING, AND I AM SO THANKFUL BECAUSE I FEEL VINDICATED.*

Now Facebook is also turning Instagram into the exact same model that Facebook has of connecting "friends and family" when Instagram is all about being a fun Platform filled with DISCOVERY of people, places and things. *THIS FORCEFUL BULLYING MANNER in which Facebook is moving in the form of THEIR ACTIONS* as it Regards to their staffing and it's Users is so toxic. I strongly believe that IG platform is hot right now in the moment, but that will not

I too am speaking out because *IN TRUE CUSTOMER SERVICE OR LACK THERE OF AS IT PERTAINS TO BUSINESS INCLUDING FACEBOOK, * IF you mistreat and ignore your customer/users, You will"in fact" have ignited the *CLASSIC NUMBER ONE GOLDEN RULE which is "word of mouth".* Word Of Mouth is vital, because for every 1 out of 10 customers, for every single customer that EXPRESSES THEIR GRIEVANCE, there are 9 others that will silently leave without telling you why, and this is bad for ALL of the following reasons:

1.) THAT IS A MISSED OPPORTUNITY TO WIN BACK YOUR CUSTOMERS and correct the problems BEFORE THINGS SPIRAL downwards.

2.) THAT *angry silent CUSTOMER* will tell their family and friends about THAT AWFUL EXPERIENCE, then THEY TOO will tell their family and friends so now more people will not deal with you.

3.) Long term damages that a business will never be able to recover from.

People failed to realize that just because we have a technical world and ALL OF THE SOCIAL MEDIA AND DEVICES are very dominant, *WORD OF MOUTH IS EXTREMELY VALUABLE, * and as we can ALL see with a giant like FACEBOOK, the damages are huge because of the *most important factor was breached and on a global scale at that, and THAT is the Loss Of Trust.*

Really insightful video. Not just into what's been going on at a tech giant like Facebook, but also what others should look out for.

I work in tech (more entry level) and my workplace is very diverse so I haven't experience that wallet thing.

But I definitely experience people locking their car doors when they see me in a parking lot walking to and from my car so I am not at all surprised by this.

So he is saying nobody can reach into their pocket when he is around? smh, and this guy saying he is being discriminated against while he can't embrace diversity in the first place(working and living with people of other race). Companies should hire people based on their capabilities, not because of their race... People are hired to do their job, why should race play in any part of this?

Blacks people also bring their culture to work. Meaning, over socializing at work and very talkative about own personal lives. Just the other day, we were at a McDonald’s drive through and we could hear them talking over the intercom as we gave our orders and while waiting for food even while windows were closed.

What I don’t understand is why are there groups if we are all the same? Is this guy not establishing racism by creating specific group engagements.
