Seriously...this scene just softens stone. The eyes, expression, bg melody....
A minute that makes you realize you really can capture pain and beautiful love on screen without a spoken word.

This kid's acting was absolutely epic. His eyes are so full of anguish...that's a damn super power.

This scene is beautiful in an of itself, but lets take a moment to appreciate the genius of James Horner and his ability to produce such effective and evocative music symbolizing grief, pain, and yet, love. The soft strings pulling through to the haunting and distantly sounding uilleann pipes and gentle orchestral accompaniment....perfection!

These children did an excellent acting job. They captured the emotion of the scene perfectly!

This score makes me cry.  Horner was a genius.  R.I.P

I'm not that sentimental but the scene later that shows Wallace giving the pressed flower back to her as an adult and that he'd kept it all those years is powerful too.

This movie represents all that is important in one's life. Dignity. Honour. Love. Words doomed by our generation to be just words - good to be wished, but just that. Over the years i have seen a lot a movies, i like to consider myself a major book person - i love reading, thinking and feeling. Therefore - i know it is not the perfect movie, i know and accept all the drama behind the criticism for the movie - cliches, historical irrelevant or whatever. But it will always be my favourite movie.

Scenes without dialogue tend to be the most powerful.

This brings tears to my eyes. Something so simple as a thistle, yet there is so much kindness in this scene.

I was 6 when i watched this movie alone. This scene stuck with me the most and I watched the movie again about 2 years ago as a full grown man. Just like wallace kept the thistle for his love all them years. The nostalga hit me so hard that it saddens me deeply on how pure and simple things have vanished. Look at anything in life now, its not pure and doesnt touch the heart. This movie showed the pure human spirit. Nowadays everyone are pawns in system that knows no compassion, love and honour
